    Freelander 2 (LR2) FL2 brake disc question

Does it have the original wheels on or have wheels with a different off-set been fitted that need the spacers? Or other option you got it from a boy racer?

    Starting issues

There is a mod on earlier freelanders to put an extra ground wire onto the engine. The original ones were a bit marginal and also prone to rusting where they bolt to the in the innerwing. Take a hefty cable from the battery negative and bolt the other end to the engine right next to the...

    Freelander Battery

Lot of unknowns there. How do you go several weeks without using the car? How far do you drive when you do use it? What kind of driving, motorways etc? Has it got stop/start? Is it kept in a garage? Are the glowplugs all working? It’s an unusual way to use a car. I would get the battery and...

Help! FL2 has lost power steering

Think I would pursue the guarantee first. Then change the tank and fluid because that’s relatively easy. Good luck.

Help! FL2 has lost power steering

Have a look at this see if it helps. if your rack was changed nine months back, is it still under guarantee?

    Torque Converter Freelander 2

As you say it’s a bit of a toss-up. Personally, I would just live with it until it gets unbearable.

    Torque Converter Freelander 2

I think it’s called tranny shudder. You can get additives for the fluid, but I am not convinced they work. Mine did it for many years, but it never got any worse so save your money and drive round it unless it gets worse.

    Smokes on cold start td4

Think you should read your manual. The glow plugs come on until the engine is warm enough to not need them. They are not just there to make sure it starts when it’s really cold. Also, by the time you have stripped the engine enough to test individual glow plugs you may as well fit new ones they...

FL2 TD4: Flat battery, now no 'miles left' display?

Perhaps change the interior light bulb to LED as well.

Flat Battery and can’t get in my Landy

Or if you have the grey 12s towing socket you could charge it through that?

Flat Battery and can’t get in my Landy

The emergency key is in your key fob. The only door with a keyhole is the front passenger. There is a plastic cover that just pops off revealing the keyhole. You might need a bit of WD40 in it. When you open the door it should set the alarm off, if so just press the unlock button on the dash to...

    Timing Belt

Your timing belt can fail at any time. That’s just the recommended time to change it. Just check it hasn’t got oil on it.

    Freelander 2 sat nav

Putting a map dvd into the unit under the drivers seat would be a sensible first step.

Freelander TD4 Starting, Smoking and Hesitation Issues

They seem to really need the glow plugs. Have a look at this I did a couple of years back

    Spinning front nearside

Well I don’t have a fl1 so not likely to be reading that as it would confuse things for me.

    Spinning front nearside

As I understand it the fl2 is front wheel drive until it detects a wheel slipping then the clutch in the haldex closes giving drive to the rear wheels. As the electric pump in the haldex is running all the time then the only delay is the hydraulic valve closing and multi plate clutch locking up...

    Spinning front nearside

But why would it only spin one front wheel and always the same one?
  20. Stv123

    Spinning front nearside

Reasons for a spinning wheel is not enough weight pushing down on the wheel for it to grip or as Nodges said a fault with the front diff where all the power is being sent to the front left wheel. I would check out the function of the front diff first then if that is okay check that all the...
