hi is your inj/pump edc if so have you reconnected the wire on the injector next to bulk head this is the timing for the inj/pump ?wont run with out it.:D

hi bob have a tapping from mine 97 300 auto im now stripping my engine down to try and find the prob ,will update when/if i find it. but in the mean time try these first, vacuum pump (drivers side rear of eng ) fuel lift pump tappets valve top hats i have tried these on mine as suggested...

just done mine i soked top of g/box linkedge in derv, left over night. next day still nowt so got out 2lb lump hammer and hit the **** out of it.not the thing todo but fecking hell makes you feel good , well just tapped the small gear stick side to side a bit this worked for me

your right about glow plugs they dont even get warm. so the injectors do they just pull out once you undo the nut and keeper plate? and if there ****ed would this make a tapping noise.

yes plenty off smoke blue black and turns over for ever before fireing but if i use e-start it fires up with no smoke at all and first turn of key. injectors? will that make it tap , i have undone inj with engine running this made no difference to tapping. dont want to strip engine for nowt.

i have tried this,and many others but no one seems to find were its coming from, you did reply on last post and i did try it then. i have done over 1000 miles with this tapping but am now losing power and a bitch to start. f/prop fell off last week so now's the time to do all the jobs in one...

300 tdi auto 97 with trickery, right then this motor as a tap/knock from fek nows were had lots of o ya thats the fuel lift pump nope not that /no its the vac/pump not that ever. tappets etc etc ..this is from local garages please note not from this forum have had these things suggested on here...

well difflock didn't work so sprayed every thing in derv/petrol mix ( someones f/up at the pumps) makes nice cleaning stuff, anyway difflock now works thanks to landrover specialist tools num 1, also known as a 2lb lump hammer.and 6 pack cider :D so now she lives again for now. time to strip...

ya but its a 40 walk to get the bits, anything is better then walking

so if i put new f/prop on do i then get 4x4 again? or just f/wheel drive, and how do i sus out the diff lock. just walked 5 ml to buy a 306 pug to get round its nice in the middle of no were if you got transport dur.

yep thats still on , if i put it in drive look under and f/uj is spining r/prop no movment.

tryed that maybe not going in or not working? i have taken f/prop off,

and now i have no drive? im sure that when iv taken one off before i could still drive it . jacked up 1 rear wheel and r/prop moves, start eng and f/prop wots left of it spins but r/one stays still .:mad: its a 300 auto with elctrickery.

didn't even think of w/pump last owner said a new one was fitted , so if i disconnect fan belt that should stop pump running.(i think) i have taken off vac/pump and fuel/lift pump and that may ed no difference also checked tappets all seem good.:frusty:

got a loud metalic tapping no smoke well may be a little on startup then nowt, mite have to strip eng to find wot this is but i don't have any other transport and live in the middle of nowere but thats my choice.:D
