roll cage trouble, they seen me coming.

Hey guys, I am going to take some **** for this but oh well.... I don't think that the original post was that daft. Some of us are nearer the top of the learning curve, some of us are just starting out. I agree with the poster that replied that new members should be given some latitude. It...

    Juddering Steering

check your shocks? What vehicle? How long after the pot hole does it happen for? I assume it only happens on potholes? but not everytime? Sure it is not the back end? Feel similar to going over washboard?

roll cage trouble, they seen me coming.

I hope that he wasn't being serious, or else I am afraid that you might have scared him off.... Project 90 if you were truely asking for help then please post again. I do not want to see a member of any forum not get help when he/she needs it. I do not have a 90 (or a roll cage for that...

    Transfer Box Issues

Other way to test if you have rear drive is to drop the front prop shaft, might be safer than spinning on ice or mud... and if it is a broken shaft then putting the transfer case in nuetral, and spiinng the rear pro shaft should tell you that. With the transfer in neutral, if the half shaft is...

    Speedo cable stripped in gearbox

Magnet to pull it out... should be ferous metal and i believe the housing is alum, and the gear it runs on is bronze, so should be able to use a magnet to pull the little bit out. Could be wrong though, been a bit since I had my transfer case apart.

    Transfer Box Issues

Yes would say that you have something wrong in there.... when you go around a corner on dry pavement does the front wheels jump a little. (just wondering if you are actually running in 2wd even with the yellow knob engaged. ) Unfortunately I have not had my transfer bos apart and am not really...

    engine help

could also be the valve seals are leaking oil into the cylinders, then the cylinders burning the oil. Causing it to run on indefinately until either the oil in the valve cover drains totally in to the cylinders, or you burn up all the oil. As with the runaway engine post, how is your...

    Transfer Box Issues

Yes the yellow up/down knob is 2wd/4wd. When you switch to low range the yellow knob should pop up (low range is always 4wd. This is also the method to dissenage 4wd by shifting to low range then back to high.) Switching to high range should not require pushing down the yellow knob (unless...

    Longer Wheel Studs

Not sure about that m8. Never heard of needing longer wheel studs, but then again here in Canada we tend not to put anything but stock rims on our truck (tend to be a little traditional here as the old Land Rovers a bit rare and tend to try to return them to their original glory, probably...

    Strange noise

Could be several things... first off, can you tell if it is higher in the engine as apposed to lower? There are several components that can make a ticking noise. First off, valve gear. A poorly adjusted valve can cause ticking, or a valve gear (ie the adjustment bolt on the rocker gear) could...

    Strange noise

You say you can here it all the time now, even when it is sitting idling? If that is the case then you should be able to rule out the gear box. But if it only happens whilst driving (and you can't get it to make the noise while parked, even acclerating the engine by hand.) If it only happens...

    Fitting Jate rings

Would put one front and back. Do not like using the towhitch for a recovery point. I have seen more than one (even class V) come off the truck when fully loaded with a winch. It is unbelievable the forces on the recovery points. I prefer to drill holes in the chasis at the points where I...

    Music

Tho only thing on my radio (when it works and when i can hear it over the din of the truck) is Country. Yep good old country music. Yes I am one of those Canadian Rednecks, let the abuse flow.

    Fwh - Secrets?

You will more than likely run into 24 spline half shafts on the newer axles... The freewheeling hubs come off just like the drive flanges. Just remove the ring of 9/16" (I beleive that is the size) bolts like you would the drive flanges and pull straight off. But unless someone has either...

    Guages question

Speedo will not fit... the IIA is a screw on and the III is a push on. Other than that everything else should work. You can replace the speedo cable with a series III as the end in the tranny is the same though if it works out cheaper.

rookie needs help understanding what hes got ?

Hang in there and don't get too discouraged. These wonderful trucks are not that complicated. They just take a little patience and some tinkering. Just start with the basics and work away. You will be surprised with how fast it will go. Just keep thinking about how wonderful it will be when...

    LR seats, help!

Honda civic seats work if you unbolt everything off them and weld a couple of tabs on the bottom to take the posts from the original LR sliders. I have them in my truck. Think that they were from a 1991. not power.. (I'm 6' 2" and 220. I have a fair bit of room left over so you should be...

rookie needs help understanding what hes got ?

might be a good time to consider installing a new wiring harness. I am not sure about there in England, but here in Canada the salt makes the wires brittle after the years of driving and makes for a lot of problems. Was just thinking that since he basically has to trace every wire that it...
