@Datatek Fair comment. Will record as much as I can. However much that is will be more than I have now pre diagnostics.

Surely recording the base values is relevant for whichever diagnostics device is used. Having typical base values as a guide must be helpful. It is just a question of the best way to achieve this.

@eightinavee So it seems it's worth running through all the menus in live data noting down all the values assuming your car is running ok. Then you at least have a baseline set of values.

Thanks Druim Fault codes are one thing, it was the live data reference values I was more interested in.

Thanks Wammers. I was thinking of live data as well. A recent example being my Maf reading was 16 at idle. When advice was sought on here, everyone said 'that's far too low, should be 22-25'. A new MAF cured the problem & sure enough, new one gave 22 & problem cured.

173,000 on 1995 4.6 HSE looking for a new home 83,000 on a 2000 4.6 Vogue with LPG replacing the above vehicle Hope I don't have to replace as much on the new car as I did on the last one......at least for a while

I have just had the problems that you describe, replaced my maf as you did. Car also flying & same thing noticed about the gear changes.

Since the Maf, o2 sensor & fuel retrims, the gearbox seems smoother & changes at different points than before. Why should that be?

Sandy, I did loads of reading on the net too & agree the Maf looks suspect. I took a chance & ordered a new Bosch one. It made a huge difference but then needed the adaptive fuel trims reset. A friend with a Solus diagnostic did that & it showed a misfire on 5 & 8. A new set of plugs cured...

@wammers It appears so but the supplied cable was the correct one colour coded red for left side, green for right. Just the wrong bracket.
