my mates d2 had a similar problem ,It was the fob , the little switch under the button had partially come off the circuit board , re soldered and all fixed

my classic was a v8 , but i put a 300tdi in it , i wanted to keep the petrol box ,i think borg warner with the viscose coupling ,had to get an adapter made . maybee you need a borg viscose gearbox type bell housing? Adapter plate might be the only way tho , im not sure on the older ones

just incase anyone else has this sensor problem ive got one say in a cupboard doing nothing , im never going to buy a disco 2 personally so if any one need it for the price of the post its here .

Got a diff £25 dudley No discs tho fella got front discs and calipers new pads and swivels (new swivel hubs complete with ) £50 per side

Understood :) the wires are still attached the disco seems to drive normally , perhaps the porttion of switch thats fell off has broken the circuit the same as detaching the wires :)

i must add i bodged mine with said sikaflex ,made a complete mess with the stuff ( no too fussed about my disco cosmetics) It still leaks in like a tap is running . so my headliner is now removed :) will do it bit by bit

[/URL] thats my XS model , well was like that i binned the wheels , bought it for £400 ,repaired the rear arch and plate behind the arch and it passed the mot ! its used for offroading and had loads of fun in it so far :)

ive got xs with edc , lekky bits n bobs , wheel arch trims , airflow meter abs etc etc , i only use it off road ( detest the feel of disco's as road cars ) and electrics play up ALL the time , this week i have front ligts that come on and off flickering even without the lights switched on . how did the job go ? ,ive had them when they just wont line up for love nor money , ie ended up forcing them in , and busting the friction plate , ive used longer bolts to force the box and lump together and got away with it , but not every time .

you could remove the starter and rotate the engine to chck the clutch is bolted tight all the way around

check your prop shafts ,and the rear donut
