It's like a short wirring noise just after it turns over.. thought it was the starter motor (sticking) so gave it a few gentle whacks.. it then stopped doing it for a while but started again so i had starter motor changed last week (under warranty) for a brand new one.. got in, started it and...

funnily enough i tried there first hoping they'd have a range of speakers in but actually had cock all.. will have another butchers though to see if they have that chart, cheers..

lol yup, i mistook that minus on the red lead for negative and assumed it was all wrong!! should of checked properly.. all fitted and works fine... thanks chaps.. let the **** taking commence.. ;)

I did fooking wonder, check out the minus on the red rubber cover in the first pic though? odd... right then, tail between legs i'll go out, turn it round and delete this thread!

DOH!!! but the lead on the right has a - as does the terminal? see it on the red rubber cover and on the battery?

yeh they suggested and sold me a 334.. terminals are the right way round.. but the black (pos) lead is fixed to body so can't be pulled any further forward.. should i have to mod anything though to make it fit??

Mine's manual too.. the right hand pos lead would reach fine but the neg lead which is earthed to body is a good 2 ins short.. did you get yours from alpha?

Update on the battery saga... i rushed the job and ballsed it up :D

After my TD5 was beginning to sag badly at the rear after being parked up i decided to bin the air bags and go for a spring conversion.. had them fitted by a local guy today who specialises in landys (i have neither the time or probably the tools to do it meself!) ride feels firmer but defo not...

Might measure up first just in case..

I've learnt more about batteries in half an hour of reading this thread than i've known for 39 years!! Going for the Alpha batteries 800 cca at £74.99.. Good cranking amps and not too expensive.. Just need to check postage now.. :)...
