Not sure if it's the same, but had the same symptom on my Disco2 V8, turned over fine, but wasn't even trying to fire... Turned out to be the crank sensor...

My disco has a noisy pump also... Works fine, just a bit noisy!

She's fixed! Wonderful service from the boys at Challenger 4x4 who fixed her on the drive (as I couldn't start or move her).... A new crank sensor, and she feels fantastic! Better power delivery, smoother idle, I can't tell you what a difference it has made! Just need some more snow...

Having some problems trying to get my '99 Disco V8 Auto to fire up... She spins over perfectly, plenty of power, plenty of fuel in the tank, but she doesn't fire, doesn't even try to fire... Logically, it must either be a lack of fuel or ignition in the engine, but where would you all start...

Challenger 4x4 near Aldershot did my last service on the Disco - very good service and well priced :)

Well tomorrow I'm setting off for a weeks camping and general tomfoolery in Wales :D Washed, polished and waxed the Disco this morning, mighty fine she looks too. Was loading her up late this afternoon, and gleefully plucked my electric cool box from the garage, and just thought I'd plug it...

I'll swing by too - I'm in Farnborough so its only 10 mins from home :D

I guess this will be the same for V8 owners, not just TD5 owners :p

Cheers Swampey :) Had a good look at the sunroofs, and I think its the big seal that has gone - the thick plastic edging that runs around the sunroof. There is a load of black sealant (a bit like silicon) around both sunroofs, so someone has obviously tried to seal them up in the past. Not...

6000 mile (smaller service)... £142.50 + VAT, plus £30 for a new air filter cone from Edge Performance as my old one was shot :) Seemed very thorough, gave me a list of things to look out for over the next 6 months.... she'll definitely be going back there.

Fuel economy is so hard to discuss online, as no two peoples driving styles are the same, but here goes... On my Disco II ('99) with the 4.0L V8 I get around 15mpg in town, and nearer 20mpg on a motorway run on the gas. I don't see a huge difference between gas and petrol, not enough to really...
