I was out yesterday at the flying field which is very wet and muddy, and i suspect that it is only 2 wheel drive, the front wheels were spinning. is it possible that the vc could be seized in open circuit and that there is only drive the front wheels. all the prop shafts and vc are all there...

Common fault, the rear seals seem to be the problem here, will replace mine soon i also have water in there and i will drill a hole in the mean time.

2000 DL series freelander. just have it a month now. snapped fan belt rear passenger door not opening suspect prop bearings noisy or IRD.

Just on the subject of locks, the tailgate window sometimes will not go up when you close it, is the handle work electrical and can it be oiled to sort it. just the wife finds it a bit of a nuisance and i would be afraid of it failing at some point.

The rear passenger door will not open now, can it be opened from the inside if you remove the hand and pull the cable or what can the problem be.

Then i will replace them any way and rule it out. if the bearings are at fault, then the freelander will be A1

After reading this post, it sounds like i could have the same problem. only thing is there is no noise in reverse. is this the bearings or IRD.

A easy fix in the end, 15 min.s and back up and running.

I have noticed the heater is very poor in my freelander and iam changing the fan belt and checking the heating system tomorrow, i will flush the cooling system and see if that cures it.i have noticed it takes a long time for the engine to fully warm up.

I am only driving my L series a week now and i think it is ok, and the bmw engine is better for power, with blanking EGR valves etc is to much hassle. the the freelander has enough problems with IRD and VC ELECTRICAL, etc . i drove a tg4 and i was impressed, but done some homework on both...

The fan belt snapped today and i got a new one, is it a easy change and is there a thread on here that shows how. I can not find anything on here.

maybe but the car starts and i will try the sensor and see what happens.

question is can the rebuild kits on ebay be worth while doing yourself.

I would be interested in this, i have a noise coming from that area, but not sure if that is the problem. is there a bearing in there or what.
