I got a door frame off flea bay and have fitted a rear window with heater. I used dumdum putty and found it hard work. Has anyone got any advice about using this as I have another window to fit soon. :eek:

My series 3 door seals are pretty chewed up and seem to be letting in more water then usual. I spoke to a guy at the spares shop and he said that a lot of people use a one piece Defender seal although he didn't have any idea how difficult a fit it is. Has anyone done this? was it worth it?

Done a few more miles and the gearbox is now beginning to feel good. It's now done over 200 miles and I feel confident that all is as it should be.:) :D

Hi everyone, Thanks for your comments. There is no crunching , just awkward to put in gear. It is just as or possibly more difficult to put in gear when the engine is not running.I took it for a run again today and can kid myself that it may be slightly better.

How far over the centre is it wiping? is it by the same amount as the difference in the hole spacing ? Right size blade is fitted I assume!

It all went together fine. I can get it into every gear and have driven it quite a bit to try to "run" it in. Main problem is that when I start off it is very difficult to get into any gear without putting pressure on the gearstick and gradually letting the clutch out when it then falls into place.

I have just fitted an army reconditioned gearbox. It had been sitting around for a few years after reconditioning. I am having problems getting it into gear especially when cold. Once going it is great . I have driven it for several miles and it is a bit easier now but is still quite difficult...
