What were the symptoms of the diff running dry? How did you notice? All four wheels locking up and slamming me into the side of the Heysham bypass were the big clues lol:rolly: When the garage went to drain the old one they said that a thumb nail drip of oil fell out hence why it welded...

When the garage dropped my old oil they said it looked a bit grimey so that doesn't sound like oil for life!!!! At least the gearbox had oil in it unlike my front diff but that's another thread ....

I think it's just part of ownership accepting that you will be parting with your reddies on a regular basis. If we knew then what we know now, I bet 99.9% of us would still buy the car???

When I bought mine in September, it was advertised as having some sort of Parrot system in. It looks the part but i'll be buggered if I can get the thing to work! There's two iphone connectors under the armrest, I mic thingy in the roof and a dinky connector stuck in front of the gear lever...

Drove to work in silence do to audio issues buy hopefully RRkev has solved that for me!!

i've also now fitted a plastic sheet (black bag) over the lower electrical units in the boot to help keep the water off. Good thinking Batman, first job when I get in tonight, well probably second, got to get the damned thing working first!!!! Rubbing oil and black bags are such simple...

Well after a bit of tearing and ripping apart at the weekend, you all were right and the carpets in the rear were damp on the n/s only. The TCP smell was coming from inside the compartment housing all those boxes and wires (are all those [I]really[I] needed). Bar a couple of dribbles going...

I just turned 109K the other day so I've got a way to go I hope! Gearbox likes to throw the odd judder when in auto but smooth as silk in manual so i'll be eeking that out as long as I can. Oils and filters changed about 500 miles ago and when the front diff was being changed by the indy...

I feel your pain, I truly do. I have had similar woes on the Range Rover L322 forum. We mask our pain and tears with humour but trust me, they see through it on here!!!:smash:

Thanks for the answers peeps. It got more weird on the drive home! I thought I'd have sat nav on rather than a blank screen and as I got closer to home the screen fizzled and went off, no power, nothing, nada zip. I turned off the engine on my drive and remembered that I hadn't reset the rear...

Any idiot proof ideas where to start looking? I do suspect some damp as I noticed the screen steamed up overnight at the weekend and I did think that could be the start of my next challenge :mad:
