it looks great. it's got an overdrive too which is worth 300 quid on ebay.

the new chassis didn't come from another vehicle . it was a brand new replacement part. the chassis plate and number plates remain the same. cheers

the wheels are the original steel rims in white hammerite with avon ranger all terrain 205/80/16 tyres. the chassis was made by richards chassis and it has done 19 mpg average since february . would love an overdrive though! cheers

i don't think there's a hole for the starting handle though.

it's running really well, it's got an original zenith 36iv carb on now. it came with a newer "zenith" which was rubbish. quite an easy carb to work on. all the running gear underneath is pretty much new so it's very true on the road. it could really do with an overdrive cos it cruises at 50...

i think they changed to the flat type hinges later on, but i could be wrong. its a very early series 3 . i'm sure someone knows.

mines called wayne, cos when i took the steering wheel centre boss off it had "****er wayne" scratched into the underside of it. suppose i could have called it "****er"...

make sure the contact brush and spring are in ok inside the dizzy cap too.

any heat in the electrical system, or in your case melting, is usually caused by a bad connection, or cable which is not strong enough to carry high current.

sounds like a master cylinder problem to me. that's what i`d change first. easy and cheap.
