    Goodbye 90, hello 110 project

Good looking landy mate. Did the springs come with any info on spring rates? Just ordered some softer springs for my ex-mod 90 which should be 175 lb/inch front and 225 rear so i'll be interested to see how you get on. What made you go for the RTC damper? I'm thinking about one too but not...

£100 worth of bearmach standard 90 springs and a set of exmoor trim front rubber sound deadening mats ordered... let's see what difference these make to comfort levels!

Thanks! Yeah I get why the MOD have extra HD springs given the amount of radio kit, bodies, ammo etc to be carted around - but now she's retired it's a bit much...

00KK53 - My Soft Top 12v GS TUL 90. So a soft top 90 then......

Great thread! And nice looking landy. I've done some digging on springs and struggled to find kits that don't give a lift at the same time. Found a link here though that gives spring rates which is useful -land rover spring specifications. Only problem is I can't tell the colour mine started...

Nice! Headlights are unusual, is the surround something you added?

Another great thread, I'm in awe mate! Well done and keep at it - you're nearly there.

I managed a bit of tinkering today before watching England embarrass themselves in Ireland. I picked up a replacement set of seats from paddocks that are for the series III but fit straight into the military seat frames. Frames came out, wire brush on the drill and a coat of hammerite had them...

Did your new seals come with the channel pre - cut or did you have to do it yourself? Just wondering if I got the right part number!

Mine is the same 2.5na. I think that as long as your aware of its performance before you buy it's a great engine! I love the fact that that there are no electronics to go wrong, and I've got a motorbike if I want to break the speed limit ;) I've got problems with the split windows leaking too...

Finally, I've fitted headlight guards and steering guard, plus a new grill, bumper, wolf side vent and new arch spats so she now looks like this which brings us up to date!

I've been pondering what to do with the spare wheel and pioneer tools on the back. The bonnet is very heavy with the wheel on it, and I note that wolf landys have moved pioneer tools to the bonnet and spare to the side, so I decided to do something similar. First of all I needed to sand down...

I also decided that the holes in the side for radio wiring etc to go through were no longer required, and as they were letting water in they had to go. A bit of filler soon sorted this. I'm planning on doing a full external rub down and paint in the summer, so these bits will just get a brush...

    78KF38 ex-mod 90 FFR

The first job was to do a full service and replace all consumables. All was going well until changing the front brake disks, which revealed I needed a new main swivel seal. I thought best to replace the bearings, seals and swivels as it was all coming off anyway. I'm lucky in that the chassis...

Having spent countless hours reading everyone else's fantastic rebuild threads, I thought it was time to stop being a silent watcher and start my own! Now I have neither the time nor skills to do a strip down rebuild like Aaronmorris and others, so this is going to be more a record of steady...

    What an ordeal!

I had a similar ordeal with my 90 recently; what started as a disc and pad change resulted in a new set of swivel oil seals, swivel pins and bearings! At least you will know that next time will be easier ;)
