    In the drink.

I don't think so. Luckily the person who had Charlie before me took away the old fuel tank and made one to fit in the boot. I'd always meant to buy an original tank again and fit it where it should be, as it's a bit of a pain taking up the little space that the boot has. What will happen...

    In the drink.

Yep took all that off and dried it out. Also took off manifold (full of water) and dried it with a paint stripping gun. Also pointed the paint stripping gun in all the engine outlet holey thingys. Haven't changed the fuel filter yet though. Hope I get it working soon. Fed up already of...

    In the drink.

Once again thanks for this. Will try some paraffin and cheap oil the weekend and let you know what happens. These Perkins engines i'm told are bomb proof so lets find out if the sayings true. I know there's not much power in them and a 200tdi would be better. Charlie just chugs along and...

    In the drink.

Wow thanks guys! :high5: Loads of stuff to get started with. I didn't start him up with the injectors in. Only after I got the water out by turning it over with injectors out. My mate said he checked the engine oil and told me there was no water in it. I checked it after I'd been running it and...

    In the drink.

Whilst green landing I took a wrong turn and ended in a stream with the water over the bonnet. Charlie (my landy) was in the water for about an hour or so but we got him out eventually. He's got a 2.25 diesel engine which after allot of drying and turning over with the injectors out to get...

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

Well gearbox worked for a couple of weeks but then I had the same problem as above. I didn't tighten the grub screw up correctly. Now all is good.

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

Just an update for anyone interested. I took gearbox apart and found the reverse gear shoe that selects the gear had come loose due to too much play. I have modified the shoe somewhat and have put the gear box back together again. All gears now work. Just got to find the time to put it back...

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

Well, The gearbox is out and on me workbench. Drive shafts look brand new. Does anyone know if I need a hydraulic puller to get the first bearing off or will a normal screw puller do the job?

    ACF-50 and not Waxoyl?

What does anyone know about ACF-50? Reading about it, it seems to do all you want from say Waxoyl and more. Stops rust, prevents rust eats rust, just doesn't like rust. Also doesn't like salt nor water. Is it a real alternative to Waxoyl and WD40. Has anyone used this product?

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

I've taken the top off but can't see anything amiss, not that I'm any expert. Can see one of the selectors looks ok, but shaft will not move forward fully. All gear changes were fine before except noticed that the clutch had always been sharp. Very hard to ride clutch. No bad noises from the...

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

Sorry not had chance yet, life getting in the way. Will try tonight, although top half of gearbox is now in bits. Selector grub screw is in place. That would have been a nice fix! Thanks anyway. If the gearbox is clanked would you: A: Rebuild it (are specialist tools needed?). B: buy...

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

The yoke under the stick turret is ok. So does this mean the gearbox will have to come out for an internal inspection. Will I need specialist tools?

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

Sorry, what I mean is when you press the clutch pedal in and out. You can hear the gearbox turning or not.

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

Yep, tried all that but no change. With engine running you can hear the clutch engaged and dis-engaged so not sure if it's a clutch problem.

LT77 gear box, Can't select gears

I have a LT77 gearbox. I was reversing then went to change gear into 1st and couldn't. Gearbox seems to be stuck in neutral, can no longer select any gear. Gearstick still moves from side to side, ball joint still in-tacked. Any idea's from anyone please?

    Can someone please help!

Maybe I didn't make the situation clear. The garage didn't charge for the extra hours labour, but charged me £129 for the cambelt kit. The broken cambelt kit still cost me £83. But yes I agree I'll take it as a lesson learnt and thank God it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
