    Yes you can take the front prop off and go for a spin, hopefully this will give you a clue as to where the noise is coming from.

    I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, if my car cut out it would not restart, turned out to be a break in the stop solenoid feed wire.

    The becm is under the drivers seat and you will find the over ride loom plugged into it, it's no big deal to remove and will be very clear when you look at it.

    I think that's where your going wrong.... you need a mechanic to take a look and not a communist! Seriously though was the Maf you fitted a cheap one or genuine? if cheap I would try a good one instead.

    I paid £520 from ecp but obviously check all other avenues first, as Wammers says diagnostic is the way to go.
