if it came with flat nuts (thou mine and a couple of mate's i know got nylocs with the kits)..then why not just reuse one of the old unit's flat nuts to lock off ?? standered nuts are resuseable, nyloc's are not(well not sposed to be :D )

answer 1, cos the kit come's with nylock nut's not standered flat nut's.. answer 2, you tighten as much as is needed to sit the bushs flat and tight without too much distortion to them...which if you have hit the axle then will most likely be very distorted.
