i 've fitted a few of these DIY kits and they are simple. do as suggested above it takes about an hour to do the first time and the drill bit you need comes with the kit last one i did came from maplins £20

it was running fine then the battery light flashed but still had steering and temp was fine so i thought the belts ok. i was just pulling off the m way to see if it was a loose wire when it just went up maybe it was the squeeky wiper blade that started last week

it is the starter did the earth thing and nothing. bench tested nothing. put my old one back on and it cranked (wouldn't start 'cos that one i would be quicker doing by hand hence replacing it in november) cheers for the advice in helping me sort this

ALL? i thought they was just the one on the starter motor. i cleaned this and its fine i also checked the battery one and thats ok. going to do a bench test in the morning i also still have my old one that worked it just cranked slower but still started the engine i might bob that on and see...

cleaned and checked all connections solonoid now clicks when it should there is a live feed to the other connection too but nothing else happens does this mean starter motor is foobar cheers

just went and hit the solonoid with a big hammer. now it turns really slow so looks like starter motor the problem

power comes down the wire to the spade connector on solonoid. also ran a wire from battery straight to spade connector with ignition on but still nothing confused now as i thought that would work

new starter motor put on a couple of months ago so that should be ok but i'll check the live feed to it in the morning

hi all i havent done a search on this topic 'cos i wouldnt know what to put in but the issue is this.... my 300tdi auto wont start not a flicker so i'm thinking it might be the switch that stops it working if your not in N or P so my question is where do i find this switch/solenoid/whatever...
