engine cut out at some lights this afternoon. it would turn over but not fire...i have experimented with different fuels so always carry a spare filter and have fitted a glass sedimenter to the bulk head so i can see any nasties...anyway this was full of gunk so cleaned it out and changed...

i think i've seen this before. i saw this or something similar at simmonites in bradford a few years ago and everything there was mightily expensive so if it is the one the guy is probably just trying to get his money back

i agree with above also if you dont have power to them check the fuse holders that they are holding the fuse tight and are clean

are you putting the spanner on the bolt that holds the whole pulley on or the one in the middle of the bearing. it should be the one in the middle of the bearing

it really does need some leaverage to get it to move. i used a breaking bar for the leaverage when i had a tdi. i was told by an experienced landy mechanic that if you can do it with just a spanner or socket then it needs replacing. theres nothing wrong in taking the stud out just be careful...

is the stop solenoid on top of the pump ok, is there a feed to it with ignition on. if not is it ok if you put one to it from somewhere else
