AWESOME winch but possible overkill (overbudget) for this situation? A Goodwinch TDS goldfish or Superwinch EPi 9 would be more than capable for the requirement and but still good and reliable winches?

look for a 'sine wave' inverter or 'modified square wave' as the sudden drops in voltage CAN damage some electrical componants..such as laptops etc see pic below not saying that it will damage it,just something to bear in mind 'sine wave' is what you have running from the mains...

I think its best if you do, the one's I replaced were fine but thread was worn/covered crap.. I would definatly get some new retaining clips/nuts as my old one's where wafer thin and rusted too

check yer leak off pipes too..

fuse? just blown one of mine and had to change it, failing that is it getting to temperature on the gauge?

Yep, i got a replacement 2nd hand off ebay for £10.. just clean with some thinners and air dry (make sure it is definatly dry before you install it!)
