Getting my Disco 2 as economic and efficient as poss'

Hello Folks, I have a Discovery 2 TD5 X reg. I got her mainly to pull a 2 tonne trailer all week around town for work window cleaning and for a family car. She does the job good. When I got her she had only done 2k miles in 18 months and from a farmers wife. I assume she has been stuck in...

    gonna cost me tomorrow :-)

Yeah, I've used this garage for years and they are fair. The parts were Unipart and the man in charge this morning admitted they would be cheaper from another supplier. But they are tied to Unipart. I got a quote of £80 for front and £70 for rear discs and Mintex pads from another parts dealer...

I used the garage I have used for years....ex Scoda dealers. Unipart center. Not the best value for Landy parts. I asked the owner if they could do...

Discovery 2 TD5 Rear Door stiff?

Hi All, The rear door on my Discovery is stiff and creeky? Try WD40 on hinges. It has bubbled a bit on the bottom of the door. It seems like the hinge pins are rusted? Dosed with a good squirt of WD40? Any ideas? Ta David Rookie Disco Man :)

    New Boy with New Toy

Hi, Thanks for the welcome. I've been thinking. I headed this post: New Boy with New Toy. Well to be perfectly honest my Land Rover Discovery is NOT A toy.... I bough it for our main car and my work. If I were to go off road and anything breaks I'm in the **** 2 ways. Could be costly and...

Completely understand and agree. I was suggested many "Chelsea Tractors" but to me a 4x4 IS a Land Rover end of. :-)

    Remapping a Discovery 2TD5?

Hi, I'm a newbie and no confidence with a spanner. People say it's expensive but a good idea to remap an older Diesel Discovery. Mine has an occasional missing at about 2 1/2 to 3 K revs when accelerating. And seems a bit thirsty. Any advice please Thanks David

    Hey all, another newbie here.

Hi Glen, Welcome. I just joined too. Post a couple of pics. I take it you're a Landy renovation man, probably like most on here. Me, I'm not too confident with a spanner......so Famous Four, who are based in my town can sort my little problems. Mind you.....I did get a Manual CD?!

OK... Thanks for the etiquette lesson. But I hope you understand what I mean......from Skoda Octavia to Land Rover Discovery. Difference in driving. Out of curiosity.....why NOT A TRUCK? Newbie's stupid question .

    New Boy with New Toy

Of course, business wise, a Trani van would have been best but.. We need a family car at weekends and a work horse in the week and we can't afford 2 vehicals so this was the way to go.
