    Freelander abs reset

As I had the same problem I hace found that a lot of places can read but not reset the codes. My problem was the front right sensor which was not picking up the signal from the wheel. If the lights are on constantly (the HDC will come on when you pull away) the ABS system has found what it...

    warning lights

Ha dthe same problem with my XeDi. Brake switch has been mentioned in other threads so it's worth checking however, my problem was the wheel sensor on the front right. Each sensor is push fit into the hub and can work loose slightly which increases the air gap. If this happens you will get all...

    1998 XeDi Freelander overrun

Well bugger me - after a quick check (don't know why I didn't look when i bought it) I found a turbo!!!! Further to the posts about rings. If your rings go it will pressurise your crankcase but you would also lose compression as the rings are no longer providing a gas seal between the piston...

    Britpart VCU Damper Repair

Quick way to test if th VCU has siezed, draw a chalk line across the VCU then drive the car a short distance ensuring there is a couple of U-turns then chaeck to see if your chalk lines are still in line. If they are out of alignment the vcu has not siezed

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

Well, so far so good with the veggie oil. Haven't changed the oil yet so haven't tested it but I'm running on about 80/20 veggie/dieso now with no apparent problems. No dodgy exhaust smoke, no loss of power and no starting problems even when the weather was a bit cold. I'll post soon with more...

    1998 XeDi Freelander overrun

regards the turbos, i have a 1998 model and i'm positive there's no turbo fitted to mine (and i could've sworn there was a xedti model) but i think i might just have another look!

    1998 XeDi Freelander overrun

You mentioned a turbo whine, the XEDi is not fitted with a turbo (I own the same year and model). Is this your model or do you have the XETDi? I would imagine from your symptoms that your getting something going into the cylinders that will burn as a fuel for the engine. If it is fitted with a...

    XEDI ABS/TC/HDC reset

The wheel sensors, never had a problem with the brake pedal sensor so far. When I pulled it out of the wheel hub it was full of crap which was probably dampening the signal to the ABS module/computer thingy.

    XEDI ABS/TC/HDC reset

Lights came on again after reset, tested the sensor that the fault finder found as faulty, resistance was 1k Ohm so it was good. Removed the sensor from the hub, cleaned the sensor and sprayed the hub and phonic wheel, reffited (AFTER GREASING WITH ANTI SIEZE) and made sure it was tight home...

    propshaft bearings - need replacing?

Just found the problem, thought it was the bearings cos of the amount of play but it's the antiroll bar link arm on the front right making all the noise. I'm going to change both sides just to be sure and maybe the antiroll bar bushes while i'm there.

    TC and HDC Lights

I have the same problem and have discovered the "front right sensor voltage out of range". A resistance check gives me 962 Ohms which is neither short nor open circuit. Is this resistance acceptable or do I need a new sensor? George

    XEDI ABS/TC/HDC reset

They have the universal (read just about any year and model of car) fault code reader that plugs into the socket in the passenger footwell. He then pressed lots of buttons and reset the codes. The machine he used was very expensive so would not justify the home mechanic buying one.

    propshaft bearings - need replacing?

You may be able to answer this problem for me Spannermonkey. On the new bearings how much movement of the propshaft is there, I have been told that they normally have quite a bit of play but not sure how much is normal.

    XEDI ABS/TC/HDC reset

I will not be trying that one, isn't the fuel pump fuel lubricated - turn off ignition, no fuel=no lubrication=no fuel pump!! I have found a garage in Fareham, Hampshire that will read and reset your fault codes for £10. BRIGG MOTORS 01329 286128. This was compared to the dealer which was...

    propshaft bearings - need replacing?

Wasn't really that clear in my post. The bearing itself is not worn or damaged, it's the rubber mounting around the bearing inside the bearing mount which i think has degraded allowing the bearing and prop to bounce upand down and it's this amount of play i'm concerned about.

    propshaft bearings - need replacing?

The two bearings either side of the VCU seem to need replacing but thought i'd check with the experts first. When the car is up on the ramps i can pull down on the propshaft and 'bang' it against the bottom of the bearing. Also when driving there is a knock and I think it may be the prop. Don't...

    XEDI ABS/TC/HDC reset

Can anyone help with this. I know there are no faults on the system and it just needs a reset, do i have to take it to a dealer(£££££££).
