    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

Are you sure? Looks like a drop in economy to me. You may be intereted in a site that i found www.runyourcaronnuclearpowerfromgardenwaste.com. With this process you get a simple cheap kit costing 99p which converts your engine into a small nuclear reactor, you then add add garden waste which has...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

By the way, the 'run your car on water' is complete and utter bo***ks. It is possible to run a car on hydrogen (the basic priciple behind this - and with lots of modification) but you could never produce enough from an electric cell powered from a car. Think of charging your battery, you plug...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

The L series (XEDI) is more suited to veggie oil than the TD4 due to the fuel system design. You can run an unmodified L series on a mix of veggie and dieso, adding a small amount of dieso (about 20%) will thin the oil down to enable the car to run in the summer. As the weather gets colder a...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

I believe B100 can be used as a direct replacement for dieso with no adverse effects. This is, of course, provided you get a good source of biodeisel. I have heard that an excess of methanol in the mix is the source of the rumours about biodiesel or vegetable oil degrading the rubber seals in...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

Filter is very easy, it's in the rear corner passenger side in the engine bay. Two pipes to disconnect and one nut to release to clamp, don't forget to prime the new filter with the small black 'bulb' type pump next to the filter. Loosen off the vent bolt and keep pumping until all the air is...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

After a bit more thought about the timing and injector pressures I now think that it may not effect the XEDI. No 1 injector is fitted with a sensing coil which lets the ECU know when the actual needle lifts to give a precise referance for the point of injection. This will actaully negate the...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

If you increase the injection pressure there is a slightly longer delay from the plunger in the fuel pump operating and the injector nozzle lifting. As LIQUIDS CAN BE COMPRESSED (trust me on this) and the pipework will flex that little bit more the injector will open later. This may only be a...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

As i said before I was looking into altering timing/injector pressure. What I've found is that, as the XEDI uses the Bosch VP37 drive by wire pump, the injection timing cannot be altered as it is controlled by the ECU (a remap would probably work but I don't fancy that). As the timing can't be...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

You're thinking of the TD4 which is completely different, maybe you should read the full post before commenting. The TD4 has two pumps and works at a higher pressure (common rail with piezo injectors). This (much) higher pressure cuases the oil to polymerise in the fuel rail and can cause...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

I managed about 1200 miles before changing. You probably only have to do it 2-3 times while the fuel system is cleaned by the veggie oil then as normal after that. You'll start to get the symptoms of a blocked filter, lumpy acceleration, can't get full power etc which will give you a warning...

L series can i advance the injection pump timing

Does anyone know if the injection timing can be advanced on the XEDI engine. i know how to set it using the positioning bolts in the flywheel/driveshaft. As I understand it the ECU will take a signal from no.1 injector and adjust timing to suit. If this is the case can the point of injection be...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

I have just found the same kind of friend, he can get 20ltr for £16 from Makro. And yes it is that simple. The Xedi has a single distributer type fuel pump made by bosch which is ideal for veggie oil, you will get no problems from this pump. The only problem I have found when going above 80/20...

    Freelander XEDI veggie oil

Still going strong on the veggie oil. Using it straight of the shelf from Asda. I haven't had any noticeable contamination of the lub oil, when i took a sample it seemed to be what was expected from an engine running on dieso. Couldn't pull the injectors (more like they were very tight and...

Wet boot - rear door seal?

Just checked my seal and I already have the two holes cut into it. The water seems to be getting in at the botton and going under the trim panel. Going to try the mastic option this weekend.

Wet boot - rear door seal?

It's a 5 door and the top half of the seal, including around the window, is completely dry. I was thinking about running mastic around the seal to try and 'pad it out' to create a better seal. A new seal is a bit pricey for what it is. Also if it's glued on it could be a right pain to remove.

Wet boot - rear door seal?

Already checked and it seems to be fitted correctly. The seal is wet when the door is opened after rain on the bottom half both sides. Will a new seal fix the problem or will it happen again.

Wet boot - rear door seal?

I have tried searching for this topic with nojoy. What is the issue with the rear door seal, my cubby hole in the boot gets quite wet. Is there a solution to this. I don't want to just fit a new seal if there is a design problem. If anyone knows an inexpensive modification i could do that would...

    Freelander abs reset

Yes they will go out. The Freelander has a system where the module needs to sense a voltage from each hub before it clears any faults. This means that the lights will not extinguish until the car reaches approx 8mph and a voltage is induced into each sensor, that's why on a correctly functioning...
