ABS, Traction Control & Hill Descent Warning Lights

dirt doesn't get in from the top, it gets onto the underside on the sensor via the air gap between it and the phonic wheel on the hub. You could try a twice daily soak with WD40 for a few days then try and give them a good strong twist when your pulling them out.

    orange light

If HDC is working i'd imagine your ABS is working, are you sure it's not just the dashboard lamp that blown? When you first put your key in and turn one 'click' do all the lights come on?

TD4 no power and overheating ?

Might be usefull if you get a fault code reader plugged into it, took mine to garage when i had a problem (different to yours) and he plugged it in and took it for a drive to see which code come up, might be able to tell if there's a dodgy signal sent to the ECU when it's hot. Only cost me a tenner.

HELP ! TD4 and biodiesel spluttering.

First time I started using veg it cleared that much gunk it blocked the fuel line from the tank, there was that much it couldn't get through the pipes to the filter.

    Smokin' Freelander

If it's grey/white i'd still say it was water. Oil would give a definate blue smoke and has a very distinct smell. If your not losing water is it possible you could have water in your tank? A dodgy turbo could also give you white smoke i believe (don't know if the 1.8 has one!).

ABS, Traction Control & Hill Descent Warning Lights

Yup, front and rear wheels have sensors fitted. I think the rear sensor is behind the hub at the 2 o'clock or 10 o'clock postion. Just a push fit so it should just pull out, give it a clean then push it back in. If you can locate the connection (not sure where it is on the rear of the top of my...

ABS, Traction Control & Hill Descent Warning Lights

if the problem occured just after working on the brakes I'd guess you've knocked one of the sensors, take em out, clean em and then refit, problem should rectify when you drive away.

    Roverron - synergy 2

What is the synergy 2 and what does it do? Does it also apply to the L series engine? And if it is applicable to the L series where do you get one? Cheers in advance.

    1999 1.8 freelander undertray

If it's not needed for structural/strength purposes why they'd make it so bloody heavy and cumbersome. Bloody landrover engineering again!! Suppose if someone did take a hippo off road it might help witha bit of protection though.

    1999 1.8 freelander undertray

with regards to the pros and cons of leaving the tray off, I suspect something that solid and heavy, and looking at where it bolts to, it is more than likely structural so I would recommend leaving it on.

    three amigoes again......

Had the same problem with mine. Cause was front right wheel sensor must have loosened when i was changing the IRD. If it's a sensor you will have two lights on startup then when you pull away the third light wil come on. Also your traction control will work when you first pull away but the TC...

    2002 TD4 black smoke!!!

Just to clear up a point here, if your smoke is black it is not oil related. Burning oil in an engine will produce blue smoke. If your smoke is definately black then there is a combustion problem where the fuel is not burning completely causing partialy burnt fuel to be emmited in the exhaust...

    vcu

All freelander IRD's manufactured before 2001 have the old, incorrect ratio I believe.

    That thing in the roof

    Think they're for roof bars.
  17. G

    vcu

Yep and once the VCU siezes (it will happen if you have the older ratio IRD) your IRD will be next with the possibility of the rear diff as well.

    Pumped Cookin oil!!

See what they advertise it as, if they say it's B100 then it's 100% BIO, if they say it's B10 then it will be 10% Bio and so on. You may be thinking of B90 which is 10% dieso and not 10% bio.
  20. G

    Pumped Cookin oil!!

correct, but i'd only recommend bio bought at the pump. Home brew bio is a 'use at own risk' unless you know and trust the person brewing. If you get a bad batch of home brew and they didn't get the mix right there can be too much methanol left over which can damage seals. Bio from a reputable...
