    temperature indication

I have just been looking at those after reading this thread. Now got to measure my original clock and see if I can find one that will replace it, or failing that cover it up :D Either way I'm going to hardwire it and if it has a backlight make it work with the sidelights as it should do.

VCU is tight, should I disconnect the 4WD?

No, luckily, they are what's left from the many that he has broken over the years. Got myself an undertray, some folding mirrors and the newer style clear indicator headlights too :D

VCU is tight, should I disconnect the 4WD?

When I bought my hippo, it was sold to me as 2wd. I have known the guy I bought it off for over 20yrs and he was perfectly honest. Explained that the rear diff had gone on him whilst driving home from Liverpool, so he removed the prop and VCU and cut the rear driveshafts. I recently had it...

    unusual occurance

Not the same but kinda similar... The bloke I bought mine off always locked it with the key so the alarm wasn't set. When I queried it he explained that there was a taxi driver next door and if ever he came home and used the taxi radio outside, it would set off the alarm on the Freebie!! I...

Going to be looking at my 1st freelander

Ahh.. you see that's what you get for quoting people who know more than yourself .. (I know absolutely beggar all :) ) That's what I was told by someone who "knows" and so I passed on my new found knowledge... sorry to mislead anyone, I'll go sit back in my corner quietly now :)

Going to be looking at my 1st freelander

L series is the old 2.0 turbo diesel that was in the Rover 75's etc, not as sprightly as a TD4 but damn near bulletproof (and cheaper to tax too) mine is £225 for the year. Allegedly cheaper to fix if/when they go wrong, but mine starts within a second or two of turning the key every time and...

whats the most anyone has paid for tyres on their freelander?

Just short of £200 for 4 Kingpin 195/80/15 AT's Served me VERY well offroading at Stainby a few weeks ago, and although a little noisier than the cheap summer tyres, I am very pleased with them so far.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Been to my mates and had the rear brake slave cylinders replaced as they were starting to weep, they cost the extortionate price of £5+VAT each :D While he was busy mending, I took a sanding disk to the hubs and then gave them a nice thick coating of black hammerite. Looks a damn site better...

Going to be looking at my 1st freelander

Well I paid £500 for a 2000 L series with 106k on it, and I love it to pieces. £1300 sounds way steep to me especially as there are problems with it.

    Lift Kit Advice

OK sh!t or bust, what's the biggest I can actually usefully get away with ? I don't mind the extended brake lines cos they will be braided and look quite smart :)

    Lift Kit Advice

B_gger! I knew you'd have sound reasoning why my pipe dream sky high freelander wouldn't get off the ground :D In which case I shall bow to your superior knowledge and stick with a mere 50mm. I'll PM you as soon as I have 'er indoors convinced.

    Lift Kit Advice

I'm in mid negotiation at the moment... hinting that with this bad winter coming and the VERY deep snow we're expecting then a lift kit is almost a necessity ;) ;) Oh, and if she doesn't want me to redesign the other sill then I definitely need one :D (and some rocksliders too of course) I'm...

    Lift Kit Advice

Well I'm definitely NOT going to have a go at making my own. As soon as I'm allowed by SWMBO I'll be having one of Simon's and having it professionally fitted by a friend who owns a garage with a full set of ramps and tools, and knows freelanders inside out. Not taking any risks.

    Freelander Central Locking

Apparently so you can wander up to it with arms full of shopping, lower the window and load up without having to open the door. I use this all the time, then just get in and as I drive away put the window up by the button inside :)
