Rotten doors your time has come

It might be paranoia abouit the provenance of used parts that leads me towards new. When I was 21 I was picked up by the old bill for what turned out to be stolen side panels on my Honda 400/Four. Even though I hadn't nicked them and obtained them in good faith that didn't stop me spending an...

Rotten doors your time has come

I assume it's inclusive of VAT. All their previous indications have been and an extra £600 would sour the experience a bit. I did look at second hand doors and all the good ones were, to put it politely, of uncertain origin. I'm not saying yours are but those I saw on ebay that I liked made...

Rotten doors your time has come

The indicative price for 4 new doors, new locks, full respray and sorting corrosion on the panels that are not being replaced was £2,500 to £3,000. However, I've added to that fitting new side steps, swapping tyres with new wheels supplied by me, rear NAS lights, service and MoT. The garage...

Rotten doors your time has come

It's a 'it'll cost about £x' sort of arrangement. They've never done screwed me on price before so I'm trusting them not to this time.

Rotten doors your time has come

A little update. The garage sent me this picture to satisfy my curiosity. I assume this level of dismantling is the norm as a preparation for respraying. In any case it seems they are taking very thorough approach - much more diligent than I would be anyhow.

Rotten doors your time has come

Like the British banking system my doors look fine on the outside but beneath the veneer of respectability are a rotten to the core. Having saved up for a year I'm now having them all replaced as well as other areas of bimetallic corrosion fixed. It's also having a respray and a general light...

    300TDI into a petrol 90 - Worth it?

Well, if it helps you at all,I have a standard intercooler from my 110 300Tdi which you can have for nowt. That might make the project more appealing.

    paul darlows 100inch svx

It was on a Q plate as it was built from parts: 110 chassis, disco engine, God knows where the rest of it came from. Suffice it to say I didn't build it myself. I just meant to say that chopping the chassis about apears not to be a problem as far as legality is concerned. Never broke down neither.

    paul darlows 100inch svx

My first landy was a 100". Started life as a 110 and got shortened in the wheelbase department and also shortened behind the rear wheels and was just welded back up again. Never a problem come MoT time. I wonder if it's still out there? Q325BCH

Hi, I was just trawling the forum and I chanced upon the picture of your 90 in orange. I've a 110 which is just about to go in to the garage for 4 new doors and a respray. I was also considering orange and I wondered if I might ask you a) what colour is that exactly? b) do you have any regrets...

    Upgrade intercooler or not?

Just need to add a ****ty footnote to this saga. I wrote a letter to my brokers (Sureterm) informing them of this upgrade just to keep everything kosher. They called me yesterday to say that the underwriter (Zurich) was de-insuring me in 24 hours and would not offer me insurance under any...

European breakdown - 12 seater. Problem?

Thank you for your advice regarding membership of the caravan club. Given my position with regards to caravans I think it's more likely that I join Al Qaeda (only joking Echelon - don't come knocking for me) or stick wasps up my arse. I think I might just take the regular cover as suggested by...

European breakdown - 12 seater. Problem?

I'm trying to get breakdown cover. Insurance is fine. At least, it is until you need to be indemnified against loss and then you find out what you really bought. I did try my insurers and they won't/can't add cover mid-term. This is SureTerm who, I thought, were a reputable bunch. Why...

European breakdown - 12 seater. Problem?

I've read up and taken the advice from this forum on who to approach for European Breakdown Cover. I've even gone as far as getting quotes from some of them. However, when I double check with the insurers I have found that all of those tried so far will not cover my 110 CSW because of the...

Infuriating clanking noise - suggestions as to origin welcome

Well, for those of you who are interested, it seems that most (but not all) of the noise can be ascribed to a dodgy UJ. So worn in fact that the propshaft needed replacing too. So thanks again for all your suggestions and we can put this one to bed now.

Spare tyre different size. OK or stupid?

But the radius is the same, isn't it? 235/85 gives a sidewall height of 199.75mm and 265/75 gives a sidewall height of 198.75mm. Given Land Rover's own <cough> generous tolerences I thought 1mm would be negligable in these circumstances. I'm happy to be corrected. My profile says I'm a...

Spare tyre different size. OK or stupid?

Thanks both of you for your responses. Naks, what makes running the tyre acceptable on the rear axle rather than the front? I'm curious to know.

    2nd Row Seat Frame

Tim, I recently bought 2 high backs and 1 low back from ET in the beleif that I didn't have a 60/40 frame. However, I do have a 60/40 it seems (lesson learned there) but, the only thing that's not quite right is the single seat on the nearside is only held in by one bolt as the threaded holes...

Spare tyre different size. OK or stupid?

My 110 is currently running BFG 265/75 AT tyres while the door-mounted spare is some ancient Avon item. I decided that I should probably replace the Avon in the event that I might one day get a puncture. While I like the chunkiness of the current tyres I think they're a bit on the large side...

Infuriating clanking noise - suggestions as to origin welcome

I've exhausted the possibilities of where this infernal noise is coming from. I've booked it in to Alldrive next week and, in case anyone is interested, I'll post the outcome when I get it back. Thank you all for your suggestions. FWIW I think it's axle or diff at the source of the noise.
