Straw Pole On Slipped Liner/Cracked Block Issue

I've owned many other makes of cars, and had issues with all of them. My friends have issues with theirs, an Audi that cuts out on the motorway due to failed injectors and harneses that the manufacturer says is just bad luck but forums say otherwise, a series of Peugeots that were always in for...

Straw Pole On Slipped Liner/Cracked Block Issue

Thing is on a forum, you're not going to get 20 owners who say their engine exploded but another 100 owners say they have had no issues at all, so you will always read about the worst that can happen, so it will always appear to be doom and gloom. Who posts on here saying "Hi, new to the forum...

    Automatic gear box oil change

The magnet is standard, mine was furry too when I last changed the fluid and filter. I have service receipts that state the fluid had been changed about every 24k miles, which is good to know.

Straw Pole On Slipped Liner/Cracked Block Issue

My previous '98 4.6 suffered terminal slipped liner at 109k miles, I replaced the short block myself with a brand new item, had I known better I'd have sourced a top hat type. Total cost considering I did all the work myself was about £3k. My current '99 4.6 had a replacement top hat short...

    Broken Remote Keyfob

I was unaware that the immobiliser could be disabled. Perhaps a BECM expert can comment? I know a bodge I did on an old VW with a broken key fob was to tape the chip from inside the fob next to the ignition barrel pickup coil so I could use a non-chip key supplied from Mr Minnit, though as you...

Thinking of a P38 - so coming into the lions den!!

And don't forget the V8 engine failures, slipped liners entailing a replacement engine block......

    Broken Remote Keyfob

The key fob does 2 things (well, 3 if you count the mechanical key blade!), remotely control the central locking using the buttons and passively control the engine immobiliser by close contact with the ignition barrel. I presume you are using the key with the broken fob still attached when...

    Air pressure for Grabbers

So I run my front Grabber AT's (or will, they're being fitted next week) at 30psi as the car handles better than at 28psi. Crash into a car who pulls out on me, having turned the steering and slid sideways. Copper checks the tyre pressures, and consults the manual, says they are over-inflated...

    Mirror help

You need to pull it quite hard within the housing to the outside (away from the window) and at the same time pull the outer edge outwards. If you do break the retaining clip, they're only a couple of quid. Unless your mirror already has a broken clip and there's globs of Araldite holding it...

    Free hawkeye codes?

No. Pay for the codes, that then goes back to the Manufacturer to go towards development costs. If everyone were to get codes for free, why would Hawkeye want to continue development and updates? I use a BlackBox device and have paid over £1k for codes so far. Don't expect to get codes for...

    p38 rear bumper removal

Yup, sounds like it's gonna be drill the heards off time, I doubt you could get a nut welded as they sit up in a hole in the plastic bumper.

    p38 rear bumper removal

I sheared both mine off when I last removed the rear bumper. Once off, the brackets that they screw into can be removed and fairly easy job to then drill them out and retap the holes, so don't fret too much if you sheer yours.

    test drove Evouge today

So are you guys saying Land Rover shouldn't have made the Evoque? No doubt you tutted at the Freelander II? Are you saying Land Rover should only make the rufty tufty Defender 'cos it's got real off road abilities and the rest of the range is pants? The current demand for "soft roaders" is...

    test drove Evouge today

"...it’s more capable over the rough stuff than the current Freelander. This is thanks to its higher ground clearance, shorter front and rear overhangs and lower kerbweight." From Range Rover Evoque off-road | First Drives | Auto Express

    test drove Evouge today

Ah, but it's not being marketed as a rufty tufty off roader, they market it as "All weather, all terrain" or summat like that. They have never claimed it's designed to go where the Defender can. But it does have good off roading abilities though. Like much today, Land Rover have to cater for...

    My P38 rear suspension

Your EAS air pump has probably worn out, the piston seal has perished (a subject quite close to my heart at the moment). Either replace the seal if you're an avid DIYer (you need to be to keep a P38 running and keep the bills low) or replace the complete pump at £200 ish. Do a search on the...
