    non running p38

And some punctuation please, I ran out of breath reading that lot. Bit like you're on speed or something too, like you gotta get it all into one sentance really really quick........ Transfer neutral involves the high/low transfer box motor to work, it'll essentially stop mid-way thus placing...

Door mirror motor replacement - suggestions welcome

The mirror glass is held on by a white plastic ring, this is available as a spare part for a couple of quid from dealers. Or are you talking about the plastic part of the motor that the white part itself fits too?

    High beam stalk operation

My spare stalk is the same with the break in exactly the same place too. Any idea how best to repair? It's thin plastic, it's not going to glue very well.

    Britpart exhaust

Yeah, was for my '99 4.6. I've just measured the center box inlet pipe and it is 1.5cms shorter than a genuine LR box, the overall silencer length excluding pipes is the same. I guess the outlet pipe must be slightly differnt too, else the O/S rear box inlet pipe is also too short, or most...

    Britpart exhaust

Hmm, just fitted a Britpart exhaust, centre box and both rear boxes. Fit was terrible  Seems the front pipe into the center box is too short by maybe 5 cms (2 inches in English!) which meant that the rear boxes had to be pulled forwards to bolt to the back of the center box. Now the...

    chip for 4.6 thor

I fitted chips to my previous GEMS RR, at vast cost. Yes the engine did run differently, it was just perceptable. Did it increase power/torque in a way I could feel? Not really. Was it worth the cost of £750? Not really. I chipped my Disco TD5 and Freelander TD4. They cost £150 to £200...

    hids i know

I think I did read on here somewhere that someone has successfully fitted HIDs that didn't trigger the bulb warning. I can only guess that they offer an increased loading over other units so the BeCM sees enough current draw to suggest bulbs are working. If I was to fit HIDs I think a shunt...

    hids i know

I believe they are Phillips, H4 and H1 I think, but I have used other makes with good results. The packaging would have you believe they are 50 or 100% brighter, but I very much doubt their claims. I think some of the benefit of these bulbs is the light spectrum, more towards the blue end and...

Disc Brakes, Whats in a name?

These pads were fitted to a road car and I wouldn't expect to use them any differently than other pads, there were no specific instructions they should be treated differently. The squeel they produced was shocking, not just a bit. I even romoved the brake disc shields in case they were acting...

Disc Brakes, Whats in a name?

I once fitted new discs and EBC Greenstuff pads to my 04 TD4 Freelander, squeeled like pigs! Was really horrible in slow moving traffic, even had a police officer stick his fingers in his ears! Removed the pads, more copper grease, check the anti-squeel pads were present, refit, still...

    hids i know

I've moaned about HIDs in non-HID designed lamps previously. Go and have a look at factory fitted HIDs and you'll see they ALL have projector lenses fitted, non have a large surface reflector and freznell lens such as the P38 Rangie, which is why you produce light scatter and dazzle. This is...

Cooked engine what to do help

What exactly do you mean by cooked? Severly overheated? No coolant or ran out of oil? Rattle of death could be a simple thing making a lot of noise or a completely clapped out engine, shot mains, cams, big ends etc. If it was a standard engine then it wouldn't have lipped liners, it's the...

    Main Beam Bulb Type

I think it's a H1, looking through the front lens it's single element and appears long, and I seem to recall the wiring connector is a cap rather than a loose wire. I was gonna pull the bonnet and properly check, but the heavens opened so I ran off!

    Main Beam Bulb Type

Shouldn't have HID in the dipped or main lamps, the reflectors and lenses aren't designed for them and generally cause more glare to oncoming traffic. Sure you can see better, but people coming towards you get blinded. Yeah, I know the Rangie self levels but I'm not talking about that. My...

    What sort of range ?

Mine works about a tenth of that, 4 to 6 feet. 12 feet on a good day. Both fobs same. Aerial lead is plugged in to the receiver before anyone comments!

    High beam stalk operation

Mine does the same, bought a second hand stalk, and........same. Just thought it was a bad design, but it also does annoy me I can't give a simple flash without locking on high beam. I have extra driving lights, so the poor sod who has just pulled over for me gets 350 odd watts of light in his...

Please help various issues! mainly cant get into car!

To resync try taking door card off and operating what is left of the mechanism that would have been operated by the lock with a pokey thing with door closed and while poking press lock button on fob?

    Tailgate hinge cover.

Buy a new one. The springs act on tiny little plastic lugs which break off, then the springs don't do anything. Not possible to fix, I've tried. Second hand ones will be in a simialr condition, tried them too. Think they are about £50 or so. Currently mine is in the same state as yours...

    Lambda sensors

I've had both Lambda sensors go west before, they don't last forever, and once both replaced the fault codes didn't return.

    Towing and EAS

Mine doesn't do this often, but it does, as did my previous P38. When it levels down in this instance, it is only a small amount. I usually find the car has lost height due to parking on a diagonal sloping drive and attempting to self level though, so usually has to raise up in the morning.
