    dual electric radiator fan conversion

It's a fixed fan on my defender. Never had cooling issues. My brother is scrapping a Mondeo soon, so I'll have the single one off that think it's a 16". I am planning a trek across the pyrenees into Barcelona next summer, so don't want to take any chances! (and the x-eng jobby looks cool!)

    dual electric radiator fan conversion

I've spotted the x-eng 'x-fan' which is a twin thermostat in a sexy anodised aluminium thingy... It'll replace the power sapping fixed fan - the idea is to have a small fan triggered at a low-ish temp then if things get really hot, a larger one is switched on. What I need to know is, what...

Insurance For 17 Year Old?! Help please

Have you tried classic car insurance? They often limit the millage, but for me to insure my 1985 90 is only £90 fully comp with 4000 mile limit... Granted I'm not 17 any more, but it was cheaper than if I went for normal cover. A lot of the comparison sites have a classic car section in the same...

    Juddering after new clutch

I had a new clutch fitted to an old car of mine and it did the same - I left it for a few months thinking it'd be alright, then it knackered the seals on the gearbox which sprayed oil all over the brand new clutch! I ended up replacing both and then sold it for £300! Learn from my mistake and...

    going against the grain ..

My 1985 90 is insured as a classic car, ok, I'm 30, but it's only £90 fully comp with a 4000 mile limit. Try compare the market or confused.com a load of them have classic car sections...

    help

Extended bump stops will stop the shocks from bottoming out. Is it a noise you can hear, or is it simply too hard a ride? If it's knocking noise, maybe it's the a-frame ball joint? are the bushes all ok?

    Horn and wiper jet help

Mine was born a pick up and had the rear wash/wipe switch... I'd just cut it and seal the end of the pipe in the engine bay. horn's tend to seize if not used regularly so will probably need replacing and yes, they use a negative earth so the cable going into it is the positive

    going against the grain ..

Don't forget - to pass an mot, the arches have to come out further than the tyres, so you'll need extended ones with spacers (unless you take them off every time it's tested!) :)

Ran out of oil; thank you in advance for helping!

Have a mate turn it over and smell the exhaust. If you smell fuel, then surely the pump is ok as the engine is getting fuel. Did you test for a spark? Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

Ran out of oil; thank you in advance for helping!

have you thought about the coil? if you've established that the fuel is getting as far as the cylinders, surely the next question would be "why isn't it burning the fuel?" if you pull a plug, earth it to the block and get a mate to crank it over, do you get a good healthy spark? one of my old...

    smokey 2.5NA - any ideas?

i heard it's only a quick fix as it'll turn seals to black goo if left too long... cheers for the help:)

Ran out of oil; thank you in advance for helping!

if its anything like my diesel, you have to prime the injector pump after changing the fuel filter... loosen off the fuel line into the injector and see if fuel seeps out. (probably not best practice, but as the engine is cold...)

    smokey 2.5NA - any ideas?

sounds promising... perhaps a bit of that 'engine oil stop-leak' might help in the short term? it's supposed to refresh dried up hard seals... it's going to have a full strip down and rebuild in the next few months anyway... cheers for the quick reply!

    smokey 2.5NA - any ideas?

MOT is coming up in July, and i have a quite bad smokey problem! It's on my 1985 2.5NA diesel. I get plumes of white smoke (not water vapour) but it only comes when the engine is cold - a mile down the road and it runs just fine... a little research on google tells me it's unburned fuel -...

try www.streetmap.co.uk, go to level 3 zoom and all the green lanes will show up as little green crosses. you obviously won't get to know if there are any TRO's though without trying them out... at least you get an idea of where they are though. cheers, Tubbs

    no power to radio

Hello, first post - so hopefully this'll work... not sure why the power would die after a second or so, I'd check connections for corrosion, or just invest in a shiny new one! But the memory problem with the clock (and i guess radio presets if it's that advanced) will be from the wiring at...
