    Sam's picture thread is very good and involves removing the box. Would it not be less work to remove the engine and replace the clutch/fork.

    I will need to split the engine and gearbox or pay £355 for a full clutch replacement. can some one please advise as whether is easier to remove the engine or the gearbox. If i do it myself I'll have to do it outside as I dont have a garage but I'm not in a hurry. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thats useful to know. i assume the unions are a non metric thread and I'll have to get a couple of those. is the thread on on those 7/16 unf or is it 9/16? and is the thread the same at both ends but different gender.

    Tried to put pressure by acting as a clutch slave myself as abcdedd suggested but very difficult so I built a tool to push the arm as a slave would do and managed to retrieve the push rod. That has saved me a lot of work. installed a new slave without the plastic clip to hold the push rod...

    The push rod has not dropped into the bell housing. It is still poking out of the slave hole. Tried recovering it with a long nose but no luck, it seems the ball end is stuck behind the lever arm.
