M&s is probably down to low battery voltage, did you physically check ( by feel) if the sump on the box was extremely hot?.. Possably be duff sensor on the cooling circuit(up front near rad)

Unsure what you are asking, is this from cold only, as the 5's only have 4 glow plugs and do run a little rough until warm. When cold and bonnet up on mine 1800 rpm the engine does shake a little , is this what you mean?
