The 2.7 lump is a joint venture engine made by Ford in Dagenham but designed with Peugeot/Citroen so parts are readily available, same lump went in Jags, Citroen C5 & C6 Peugeot 407 & 607. I used to haul them to the PSA plant in Rennes.

Another thing to check, there's a pipe that runs from underneath the turbo round the back of the engine to the injector pump. This tells the pump how much the turbo is boosting so that it can increase the fuel supply consequently. Mine blew behind the engine where it can't be seen. Just unplug...

Where does the problem feel to be coming from? Front or Rear? I'd be checking the tyres first for pressure & normal wear. then shock absorbers, then all the suspension joints and so on. It may be helpful to you to have somebody follow you to see if there's anything obvious when it happens...

This might sound stating the bleeding obvious, but the obvious sometimes gets overlooked. Have you checked the cold start on the pump if mechanical or the sensor connection if EDC?

Sorted. Some German dick had put a stock banjo bolt in the tank return outlet on the pump instead of the restrictor bolt it should have had. Scrapper provided one from a dead Citroen, now it goes properly.

Checked the boost control diaphragm this morning & that's ok. With no load on, from idle, if you floor it it whips straight to over 4000 before choking, if you run it up gently it starts the odd miss about 2500 & cuts in & out at about 3000. Everything points to a fuel delivery problem, but...

Could be I suppose, but doesn't feel like it, turbo's boosting, no black smoke. Like I say runs sweet as a nut up til the boost comes on then just runs out of juice.
