    Series 3 windscreen wash

Just a thought, when you press the button are you sure it is running the pump every time? is the switch faulty? Run a wire from the pos of the battery direct to the correct terminal of the pump, see what it does.

    Tracing series

I may be mistaken here but I thought that the only way you can get info via the V888 is if you are shown as the registered keeper.

    Diesel inlet sucks

I am trying to improve my ser 2 1/2 bit by bit and have noticed that air is sucking in to the join between the butterfly/servo adaptor and the inlet manifold. I can see some large flat hex heads around the adaptor and want to get some answers before I start spannering them. I would guess...

    Diesel Hard to Start

If they are the newer parallel ones you are going to take them out, put them one at a time across the battery to see which ones work. If some work I am surprised you have trouble starting as one of the reasons for using them is that if you lose one the others should still work. Make sure...

    Diesel Hard to Start

Yes they are, the earth return is through the body of each plug to the cylinder head, as the photo shows the old earth from the series plugs is left disconnected. they came ready fitted to Clyde so not sure where they are from.

How much have you spent restoring your Series?

Cheapskate!:) Moneypit is right, there are things that I didn't "need", like soft top hood and sticks so it could have come in at a lower figure, but to get Clyde, .......the "easy project".... on the road. £2,300

    Diesel Hard to Start

I hope the following will be of some help. First pic is the only actual photo I have of the modern type plugs. Second shows the way you need to wire them, bypassing the the balast resistor but keeping the indicator lamp. Third schematic of new type wiring The last one is to show the old type...

    Total chassis disaster

Plan A I would try to find a way of bending it back, anchor the front and rear to the ground and put some force under the middle...assuming it bows downwards. It would need a lot of force though...if you know someone with heavy plant equipment that you can utilise....If it suddenly folds or...

    Bastarding grinder spark

I got this bit of iron in my eye as an engineering sprog 40 years ago whilst fettling a casting with an air grinder.. It went in deep so no way was it coming out again. Stupid thing is I still take chances without protection at times:doh:

    price for a series

Don't forget that the £600 project "not much work for MOT" will end up as £2000 with a little more to do before MOT.....I type from experience ;) I have just about hit the budget I set myself so am cool with the cost but you need to be aware that you can spend and spend with a series.
