True. Is there any way to tell without stripping it all down to look?

    Discovery clutch life

Thanks Sean, going on that then there's every chance mine's on it's original at 114K. The girlfriend is trying to talk me into doing a Morocco trip in the next year or two, I'm making it really hard for her to convince me!;) By then it'll be up to 130K-ish. Might be worth a clutch swap nearer...

    Discovery clutch life

Afternoon all, I realise this is a bit like asking how long a piece of string is 'cos there's a stack of variables that effect it...but, just as a general rule of thumb, what's the typical mileage that you would expect to get out of a clutch on a 300Tdi Disco? Cheers.

    Need Suggestion...New to Discovery

Rear cross member and sills rust too. Then there's leaky sunroofs... Check the steering box for leaking power steering fluid, that's an MOT fail and a pig to swap. Gearboxes can be crunchy. See if you can find out if it's had a recent cam belt swap. If you 've got someone local to you...

    Plug fitment to tow bar.

Paul, you might already be aware of this so apologies if I'm teaching grandma to suck eggs! For vehicles registered after August '98 any tow bar that is fitted has to conform to some European standard or other that I can't remember the number of. Before that date you can fit what you like. So...

    Plug fitment to tow bar.

You could use one of these with one these and one of these to keep the water out when it's not plugged in. The cable will be a tight fit so it takes a bit of patience to get it all in place and connected up but it does work. They're not the cheapest connectors in the world but they are well...

more floor bores and other chores

Have a look at this If you follow the "technical" link, under repairs and maintenance there's a link to a page that details what the guy did to replace his boot floor. Hope that helps.

Any ideas on the best way to weld this?

Don't know about jacking the body up, I've never tried. I guess if you undid the bolts on the mounts at either end of the sills you might be able to. I was thinking more like leaving the body where it is, fastening the new metal to the mount, bolting the mount to the chassis and then...

Any ideas on the best way to weld this?

Well, in the past I'd have wedged some wood between the chassis and the body then cut away the area around the body mount with a grinder/dremel/hammer and chisel, depending on what you can get at it with. Then I'd fabricate the new section, bolt it to the rubber mount and weld it to the body...

Where to buy stainless exhaust for my 300 tdi??

Sounds nice, what did that set you back if you don't mind me asking?

Rear wheel arch rust under rear doors.......

Now then, you say "get welded", so I assume that you haven't done any welding? You could look upon it as an ideal opportunity to try your hand at it. It'll save you a small fortune over time :) Personally I'd make a patch out of a bit of steel sheet and weld it over the hole. (Assuming...

    Rock slider

Think you're gonna have to make or buy some brackets. The sliders I've got bolt to the chassis directly using the mounting points for the side steps. It looks like yours are made to fit to the side step brackets. If you take a look at the pics here you'll see what the brackets look like. (Yes...

    Re-Chassising...£££!!!!

Doesn't putting a new chassis under it mean it has to go on a Q plate to be legal? Does it really need a new chassis? Is it past fixing? (Yeah I know, there's loads on the road with new chassis that aren't on Q plates but technically....etc,etc)

    10 year old airbags

Let us know what the price turns out to be. (Once you're over the shock of course!) :) I'm not really thinking of swapping mine but I'm curious to know what it would cost. I once used an air bag in anger, lost a good amount of skin from half my face to a friction burn on the bag. It all...

    New 300TDi owner

30 to 40K for a cambelt? Nah! 60K/6 years whichever is the sooner is more like it, either way, I'd swap it. :)

    QT Diff guards

I've been thinking about fitting the QT diff guards but I might have a problem. I've fitted a tank guard, more for the removable towbar that it gives me than for the protection. It doesn't leave all that much clearance between the back of the rear diff and the front edge of the tank guard, about...
