Finally managed to fit axle today.Everything went smoothly until it came to renew the a frame joint, tried for many a while to get this out to no avail, so out came the oxy-acet to heat it up, ground the lugs off where the 2 bolt holes are and put on top of the vice and smacked it with a hammer...

Brake pipes made up and fitted today, spring seats, springs and clamps attached,nearly ready for fitting.Hopefully have time this weekend:)

Where abouts are you based? TD5 Bulkhead will fit no prob, but you will need to cut a hole for the wiring loom behind the fuse box and also bung a few up. Bonnet pull is different to, i made a beacket to fit the old bonnet pull, but i suppose you could use the td5 item, but mine didnt have one...

Paint arrived today, so got stuck in applying 3 coats of Black 2 pack gloss enamel, had to evacuate the workshop for 20 minutes whilst the fumes cleared:) Also fitted de carbon gas steering damper, which has improved the steering immensely, the old armstrong unit being well past its best.

Try loosening the seatbox retaining bolts to allow a little play to aid fitment of tub.

Will it drive with the diff in the locked position? check the drive shafts are not spinning in the drive flanges on the hubs.

Tanks on the back of a td5 too. You would need to move

De-greased and primed today:)

Its to do with your lights i think, dim/dip voltage transformer, fastens up somewhere under the wing.

Hi again all. Just thought i`d put an update on. Purchased 300tdi disco axle, well actually got it free,Gotta now the right people:D Cleaned the calipers up and repainted red to match fronts(boy racer in me:p) Paid a mate £30 to sand blast it, and have ordered new springs, gas shocks, flange...

Hi all In the process of swapping rear axle from my 200tdi for a dicovery 300 tdi axle. Just wondering if anyone knows how to remove the input flange as i need to swap for the 4 pin 200tdi flange.Cheers Alex

I used Richards for mine and everythin bolted straight on, no probs, about 1300 quid all in with g/box x mamber too.:)

Did mine with a roller for the nato green, and sprayed matt satin black over with spray gun!!!!!! see my posts for pics

Hi Matt Rear wheel bearings will cost you roughly 15-20 quid a side plus around a fiver for grease, so save yersen some money and have a bash yourself:) atb Alex

check the live feeds to the lights any bare live wire touching the body will blow the light circuit, they run either side over the inner wheel arch,maybe like my friends the mice have moved in and chewed the wires bare.
