Drivetrain noise - how to find the culprit?

Hi Everyone, I have a drivetrain noise which I want rid of - it's starting to get on my nerves! It's a kind of "wow, wow, wow, wow" noise while driving, as if something which is rotating is out of balance. It starts at around 30mph and gets faster as the car goes faster. It's related to road...

    Fit new tyres to rear?

Here's a quote from Kwikfit: "Many tyre manufacturers agree that it is no longer good practice to rotate your tyres in order to extend their legal life. The reasons for this are; * Partly worn tyres are more likely to experience punctures – particularly in wet weather conditions...

    Is this a record???

Chr*st I hope not!!! I did a search on here and saw there have been a few people with exactly the same fault, which appears to be a bad/loose connection to the starter motor. Now...... if only I could find out where the starter motor is I could have a look. Can someone give me a clue please?

HG & Overheating questions from a newbie

I'm sure I read about a way of changing this over (back to the "search" again!) so the thermostat is on the outlet side from the engine. I take it this mod would be a good one to do from a preventative side of things, rather than wait till the fault appears? Does anyone have an idea of price for...

HG & Overheating questions from a newbie

Ok, I've done the searchs and am even more scared now! But, just to get this right in my head, is it coolant loss/overheating that causes the HGF or the HGF that causes the coolant loss/overheating?

Hi everyone, I've been looking through this forum for a couple of days, ever since I decided to buy a 1.8i Freelander, and you've scared the pants off me regarding head gasket failure and overheating. I did see some mods which may help, but can anyone give a definitive list of things which...
