    sorry...its insurance .....again

Ratty, Tried that, they only list a 5 door 110, not a 3 door. Even then they class it as an 'estate' not a station wagon, they havent a clue, but I dont want to end up without insurance!! try an online quote with elephant/admiral - enter a hard top reg and its not there, enter a SW reg and bobs...

    sorry...its insurance .....again

hmm, makes perfect sense. It would appear that they dont like where I live, I think It will have to be a station wagon (or estate as they call them!) If I got a van back and added a set of rear winddows, then woul;d it be insurable as a station wagon or still just an estate with windows...

    sorry...its insurance .....again

4 years NCB, (was a named driver for quite a while through college and uni) I think I may have picked the wrong company (some wont do van backs, such as elephant or admiral, have to go to a specialist!!) 109party, where did your dad get that quote? Thanks Ben

    sorry...its insurance .....again

Nope, no crashes, passed at 17, named driver through school and college then my own policy after that. 4yrs ncb and a clean lisence. I guess I just chose the wrong insurers. I will give swinton a go. The cost for a station weagon os really good, they just wont insure the van back, which I find a...

    sorry...its insurance .....again

Hi, Thats the trouble, a disco is classed as a car, a 110 hard top is a van to all intents and purposes, therefore normal insurers dont list them. I will try adrian flux and peter best. I stay well clear of lancaster, I had my 1970 MG insured through them - not a fun experience...

    sorry...its insurance .....again

Hi, Well, A year on and I STILL havent got myself a landrover, very close though, starting to go through quotes to see the damage. I am looking at a 110 hard top, but I cant find any insurers that will insure it (except van insurers) and then its super money (£1500!!!!!) a station wagon comes...

hello and help....please!!! (sorry its a long post)

cheers for that, I wondered if they had trim as i am after a more 'basic' vehicle. Went to see a over the top modded one a few nights back and decided that i wasnt keen on the trim bits and carpets etc. How weatherproof is the canvass top? spotted a real nice looking one in NATO sand/desert...

Newbie exploring v8 engine options - SU, Weber, EFi transplant - advice needed!

thank god you didnt decide on a fast road cam. Not sure what it would be like in a 110 but I have one in my 1978 MG (stupidly thinking it was the right thing to do when i rebuilt the engine) and I HATE it!!!! cr@p idling, cr@p on fule as the engine works harder (or it seems to at least) and now...

hello and help....please!!! (sorry its a long post)

well, looked into a totally refurbished 300tdi today, going to cost around about 12k which is a little on the steep side for me. I think my best plan is to search for a solid 200/300tdi and tinker with it myself, then possibly have it resprayed to tidy iit up. where are the military sales...

hello and help....please!!! (sorry its a long post)

If i paid say 5k for the car, 1k for the paint job (to get it professionally prepared and done may be more) around 1k for the engine and the same again for panels and glass, it would come to about 8k. Would it be worth going down that route or just pay for a complete package knowing nothing...

hello and help....please!!! (sorry its a long post)

D451 A disco has no place with me, it HAS to be a 90!!!! Yeah i have played with them (the old folks had a series 1 for a fair few years and i loved that!!!then a series 11A which i also loved!!!) I dont plan on doing the refurb myself, thats why the money is a bit in the steep side, but i...

fcking heck, that is sterling advice!!! huge thanks!!!! I was thinking of it being an okder car, but just read that condition is more important than age or mileage (which would be almost nothing due to all mechanincal parts being refurb' or replaced as appropriate) cheers for the help!! Ben
