CB radio advice

It sounds like the advertising guys have got to you. Whilst you're picking up your more expensive antenna buy some swr grease too, and perhaps some bleed-beads for that troublesome breakthrough. :D

    CB radio advice

I'd be very interested to know why antenna price has anything to do with SWR? Is the impedance of the cheaper antennas a lower quality Z? :D

    TD5 Mpg over 1300 miles

My 2002 pre facelift has the EU3 EGR system with ILT also. I've done the EGR plate thing and unplugged the power connector on the ILT actuator. I've read that all this EGR stuff is removed on the latest Discovery II sold in SA. Does anyone have LR part details for the factory mod?

Insuring more than one landy? How do you do yours?

Some folks have more than one landy. Some have far too many, they should play nice and share! How do you folks with more than one insure them? Do you have a seperate policy for each? If so does that involve some advance math with regard to NCB? Or perhaps you have some multi vehicle policy...

Yup. 50ohm unless he's bought them from Del Trotter :D

    CB radio advice

If your sets are 27mhz buy RG58. There's no point in buying low loss coax for the length you're going to use in a vehicle.

    Discovery II diagnostic port reading?

I've read much more than just forums. I used the link to a thread on here as an illustrative only. The information you attached shows that the socket and wiring don't support l-line but do support the open collector k-line bus, and that Landrover have augmented the connector by utilising pin...

    Discovery II diagnostic port reading?

The 323 chip is cheap and the circuit is simple enough to put together, it was worth trying out. It's alright people simple saying "It's not compliant" or "It is compliant" as in this thread <http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/obd-protocols-td5-37896.html?highlight=obd%2A> It seems that opinions...

    52 plate td5 handling

I've spun both my old TDI200 and my TD5 in the wet. Bloody glad mine have never felt the need to find grip whilst going sideways though

The droid was probably mixing and matching sales hexes. It mattered not, I was already sold :)

Wet bends and roundabouts... They pirouette quite nicely when they let go :)

    Discovery II diagnostic port reading?

The Nanocom would certainly do the job, but buying something would spoil all the fun of messing with PICs :)

    Discovery - 1. length 2. ACE

From wikipedia "ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement, an electronically controlled hydraulic anti-roll bar system) was fitted to some versions, which reduced cornering roll to insignificant proportions. Self-levelling air springs were fitted to some models and European type-approval for 7-seat...

    Tranny problems

It's possible i suppose, but i'd expect something more than just odd tyres to be the problem.

At this time in the morning, on a weekend and after beer you should be questioning everything I type *hic* And with that I think it's time to retire gracefully.

    Tranny problems

It should illuminate the difflock light. I think it's red and at the top left of the dash, but i'm not 100% sure of that. CDL was the only thing I could think of that would cause windup.

    Tranny problems

The only thing that springs to mind is perhaps you have CDL engaged. If your transfer box has CDL fitted and someone has crawled underneath at some point and engaged it with a spanner you would get windup from that. I'm only hazarding a guess mind.

    Discovery - 1. length 2. ACE

I was told by the stealership that the 5 seat model had EU type approval for ACE and the 7 seat model didn't, so they couldn't sell an ACE equipped model with 7 seats. I don't suppose there's anything stopping a buyer from putting them in after buying it though? It could have been complete...

    Discovery II diagnostic port reading?

Has anyone had any luck with reading data from a Discovery II diagnostic port using a simple interface such as ELM323/327 and the like? I've been playing about with the port for a bit today and it seems to be wired for the OBD2/EOBD (4,5,7 & 16) standard but fails the primary 5bps handshake...

    Discovery - 1. length 2. ACE

It's supposed to do the same job, but i drove an EAS and an ACE demo vehicle at the stealership and the ACE "felt" right, EAS was so-so. Both were Certainly better than the wallowing TDI200 I left with them though :)
