    Who frickin designed this?!?!?

I just serviced my TD4. Took 5 mins to get the tray off and the same to get it back on again. A bit fiddly but I only do it once a year so not a big deal really. The oil and filter cost me £40. £92 sound steep to me! Cheers Rog

    Rattle Underneath

Problem solved! I decided I better get it looked at properly as my MOT is iminent just in case anything that's rattling about could affect the emissions part of the test. Thought it unlikely but didn't want to find out on test day! Anyway, went down to Supertyres as Kwik-Fit was busy and...

    Steering Wheel Change

I wasn't joking :o It arrived today and will get fitted tomorrow... And the cupholders - I'm a short-arse and have to stretch down to reach the holders in the door so the top of the dash it's got to be! Rog

    Steering Wheel Change

Just ordered me black leather armrest to match my black leather wheel. Great day! :D £17.99 off eBay from a main stealer - Was watching one in an auction on eBay last week and it went for over £50! Some people have no patience do they?? Cheers Rog

    Steering Wheel Change

All done! Took me a wee while to get around to finding the time to do it but it's now on. No real problems and had no trouble with the weight. Only fiddly bit was getting the airbag to sit as flush as it did on the old wheel. Took the airbag off and remounted it and it's better but...

    Steering Wheel Change

Hi I just bought a leather steering wheel to replace my plastic one. Have had a quick look at Rave and it seems a straight forward enough job. Does anyone else who's had their wheel off have anything to watch out for? Or, any tips or tricks for any fiddly bits I may come across? Cheers Rog

    Rattle Underneath

Just been down to Kwik-Fit to get a quote on a new back box and they have given a very reasonable price but the back box that they want to fit only has one tailpipe. My current backbox has twin tailpipes. I think that this is porbably just the difference between the genuine LR part and the...

    Rattle Underneath

Right. Lots of prodding and poking done and the rattle tracked down to the back box. Sounds like a marble rattling round inside. Could this be something in there that shouldn't be or is it simply busted inside? If it is busted, anyone know the rough cost of a rear section on a TD4? Cheers...

    TD4 Doors

Haven't had that problem but have had issues with check straps. The bolts wearing the thread out of the strap meaning a door strip down to replace a £16 part! Driver's door has done it twice to me so now I just have no check strap. Easier that way :) Cheers Rog

    Rattle Underneath

Thanks for the reply - That sounds exacty like the noise. However, I've just had a look underneath and all the rubber bits of the exhaust are where they should be. I've given the exhaust a bit of a shake and no rattles can be heard. I don't think it would be the undertray as the puddles...

    Rattle Underneath

Just got back from a week in Wales (which included some great mountain lanes, fords and big muddy puddles!) and noticed while I was away there is a little rattle coming from underneath. It's noticable when pulling away in 1st or reverse (ie Engaging gears with few revs) and sounds just like a...

Freelander 1.8 Petrol - Is it worth it?

I'm afraid that dealer is taking advantage. But then that's how they make a living! On a cheap car £500 or a bit more is a typical markup. £3K-10K looking at about a £1K markup. The fancier the dealership the larger the markup is likely to be - The leather sofas and coffee have to be paid...

Freelander 1.8 Petrol - Is it worth it?

Right. For a start it's overpriced. That model/age/mileage shouldn't retail for anything over about £2250. It actually books at about £1600 onto which a dealer should stick about £500. That don't make £3K........ Secondly, it's a 1.8 petrol which, if you do a quick search, you will see is...
