    power loss ?

I reused the same seals, they were ok. Just cleared the sludge out of the strainer and refitted. Snapped the drain plug off though.

    oily hubs

Well look at that. Some new hub 'caps' (FRC4377) and everything is fine and dandy. I never would have thought those caps would be all that's sealing the hub. Although I did find one hub different to the other three - that's the army for you I guess.

    Security devices for defender?

In the same place as everybody else's? :) It's not really a security switch unless you use a lockable version. The big red key version just isn't.

Disklok - Type B wheel - medium or large?

Not really, its very common knowledge. Landywatch has faqs on how to weld them up. A trust me, the scroats already know this too.

Oh well.. there goes that idea. :)

    2.5D NA Starting Woes

So I suspected I might have a smaller fuel problem a while back. Since then Ive been booting the throttle pedal when I turn off the ignition to pump a good dose of fuel into the system ready for the next startup. Something that was quite common in the old days. In fact I noticed James Bond did...

Thanks for the update. So you think it was just the leakoffs?

Disklok - Type B wheel - medium or large?

Like I said, remove the foam inserts and it'll fit fine. I've just measured my wheel - it's 420mm across and the medium DL has three 'settings' that give you a fit between 415mm - 430mm approx. BTW - "peeling" a DL off the wheel is the biggest weakness - the wheel is relatively soft and...

Disklok - Type B wheel - medium or large?

Hello Cat, this is Pigeons. I use a medium, which I'd think would fit better. If you take the little bits of padding out of the rim it should fit quite well. A tighter fit is better than looser (ooh-er) so long as it still spins on the wheel.

Two and a half grand 90?

Try something ex-mod. It'll be pretty basic, and probably pre-1990, but will have been well looked after. 2.5NA engine isn't fastest, but reliable and easy to maintain yourself. You'll probably find the Army put a new engine in at some point too. Although 100miles a day might get a bit...

    oily hubs

Thanks, yes breathers are good on mine. I checked them when I had a leaky diff seal, had to replace the rear one as it was blocked up. When you say "cap" do you mean the rubber cap on the outside of the hub - on the drive flange? Ta.:)

Mick, there are a few different part numbers. Check out the parts catalogue, courtesy of retroanaconda.

    2.5D NA Starting Woes

14% .. jeeebers!! I reckon I'd have to reverse up that. Luckily I don't have anything close to that steep round here. I've found the speed is reasonably similar on hills regardless of the run-up, so I've got a couple of good benchmark hills that are good for checking power-loss. Found my...

More so than normal? Mine doesn't get above 3rd gear and 30mph on hills. :)

    oily hubs

Thanks DP; yes, it's leaking from the centre cap by the looks of it. I might try the hub to start with, but expect that'll be a red herring. Cheers

    oily hubs

    looking like this oily mess.

    oily hubs

another feckin oil leak, 3 out of 4 hubs are leaking now... It looks like the oil is leaking out of one or two of the drive flange securing bolts, and from what I can see nowhere else. So, is this the inner hub seal, or the half shaft seal? Cheers, Dobbs.

00KK53 - My Soft Top 12v GS TUL 90. So a soft top 90 then......

Nice.. but be prepared for the odd passing plod, (or worse RMP if you're in a Military town) to have a word. It's an offence to take blank/live rounds and pyro, or parts thereof, off training areas--even unintentionally.
