    fitted my original chipped key to the ignition barrel so I could use spare keys cut from blanks without chips in them, so now have two sets of keys and fobs instead off one, saving a small fortune. happy days.

    +1 to all grumpygel said, I was lucky and when I bought mine it had a replacement VCU and a recon rear diff, and new props but I still had the IRD and gearbox oil changed, you cant replace the oil in the diff as its sealed (apparently)

    I did that when my top hose let go and dumped all my coolant, refilled and left the coolant filler cap off and ran it for a few mins, you can see air rising from it, then replaced the cap and then unscrewed the bleed nipple and only water came out so it was okay, if it doesn't bubble with air...

    no tow bar fitted, just dimmer on the n/s, cleaned the contacts in the holder, side lights look pretty similar but brake light on looks quite a bit dimmer than the near side bulb when pedal pressed, something stupid but cant quite put my finger one it.

    my clutch seems close to the floor to me but it engages easily 2004 model, just come from a landrover indi and he says lowish pedal is normal for these. did tell me that a new clutch and hydraulics (slave cylinder I think, one inside the housing anyway) would cost £480 to replace, didn't think...

    Hi my n/side brake light (facelift model 2004 TD4) is dimmer than the other side when they both come on, changed the bulb on that side and both complete units have been changed recently, I think its the bulb holder itself but just seeking assurance...btw anyone know the part number ? cheers

    so I did buy a key off the bay and had it cut, it works by holding the chipped key next to it, so thats ok then, all I need now is to buy a fob and try to find someone from my area (dudley west mids) to code it to my car,,,,,,any body willing to help ? or where can I get it done at a reasonable...

    thanks tiny1000 fobs look easy then to get, it's the keys that are the problem, cant get a key complete with transponder except from the stealers.

    cheers dfossil, so the new cut key will just slot into the ignition barrel and everything will work ok then, the original transponder signal will be read from the outside of the barrel ?
