Likewise - Landy much drier now, running better by time we got back! So much for the splashguard on the fan... I will finish that lane! Hope you weren't too badly scratched by by bushes?

Big thank you to Farrar and co for a great first laning trip. No doubt pics & video will be up later. Think I may feature slightly, whilst testing the aquatic limits of the ignition system. Thrice... :o Sorry chaps, and thanks for the tow. Twice... Still grinning though!

Just PM'd Farrar, be great to tag along on Sunday. Anti-Stall? Can't find that switch on the 2a... Now snowing here (nr Baldock), better wash me thermals!

Been out in both motors on local back roads, kept off local lanes though as running solo. But plenty of fresh undriven snow. P38 was warmer, but Series was most rewarding to drive. Hardly saw a soul too!

It'll certainly do that.... Welcome, from the top end of the A10, up in border country. Up & running again here, so up for trip out as well.

Happy Christmas - loads of drink in, and my new tilt has arrived, so I'll be busy for a week or two...! Have a good 'un.

    unable to identify series

Everything on a 'Series' Land Rover comes off simple tools. And sometimes they just come off on their own.... Lighweights were built for the army to airlift into battle/ down the pub for last orders, so are basically a rarer form of a normal Land Rover (whatever normal is).

Just ordered a tilt for the old girl - so that'll fix that issue. And no doubt supply new ones! Thought about fitting a lining (hard top being kept), but unsure how to get the required 'Solihull sag' just right so as to obstruct any rearview mirrors...

    Cracked Block??

Hi Dohan, I bought a cheap P38 4.0 with lpg that had much the same issues - gauge showing cold, losing coolant, exhaust vapours, slight misfire (blowing back through airbox). Hoses were not solid, engine not overheating so took the risk & bought it. New thermostat sorted running...

Won't be able to get to the pub on Weds, but would be up for something later in the month, and some gentle petrol series friendly laning. Are heavy interior ice falls from the roof normal in a series by the way, or is mine just a little bit special? Not the most endearing feature I've found...

LPG - Spare wheel, to carry or not to carry

Likewise. But I figure with a P38, a puncture is the area of least fear when out and about...

There is one in Benington Lordship, nr to Stevange, not used them myself, but maybe be on a bus route. Howe Engineering, a Landy (all forms) & LPG specialist nr Buntingford is who we use when needed - bit further, not sure if buses ever go near them though.

    Newbie

Just got my first Series (a 2a), and it can't really be compared to anything else on the driving front. Maintainance wise, if you can fix a Midget, you'll cope with a Land Rover. And you will always be fixing something... Rust? Only really everything underneath and the bulkhead.... Search...

Off roading legally or illegally, views and experiences in national parks

student87 - Don't forgot driving an open BOAT is not off-roading. It is quite definitely on-roading - the Bobbles deliberately ignore that fact, which of course helps them convince other folks it is wrong. A BOAT is a public highway, albeit one that is quite often not so Mondeo friendly as...

Good to meet you chaps tonight - look forward to getting involved in forthcoming events. On which note, think all weekends for the rest of this year are good for us if anything is arranged. Be great to give the S2a some leg stretching!

    Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Hi Jai et al, Hoping to get to the pub tonight - what sort of time do you meet - and daft question possibly, are you all obvious or tucked away in a hidden room somewhere? If you see a pair of lost looking 'erberts with a P38 looking around it'll probably be us! Know the pub - used to go...
