steel seal, to good to be true?

If the heads are warped and weren't skimmed when the gaskets were changed, its likely to have been money thrown away and would need to be done again - properly!

    P38 auto gear box fault

Definately worth a go - filter kits can be found on ebay for about £20, then get yourself some fluid and crack on - amazing the difference it makes.

    Another broken P38? Never!

Just spoken to them, they had reached the same conclusion with the AFM and had swapped it back out for the original as it seems fine. It looks like its down to a number of pipes failing and collapsing at various times - as one was replaced, it moved the problem elsewhere - could have been...

    Another broken P38? Never!

The Garage is Dakar 4x4 - never had any issues with them before and have always heard good things about them. They have already changed out the Air Filter for a new one - the problems were still there. The reason they changed out the AFM was down to the fault codes the BECM had generated -...

    Another broken P38? Never!

Well, as the title says, mine is broken again - and in typical fashion, just before I'm due to go off on holiday! Latest issue, driving along, middle lane of motorway, just under 70mph, 3000rpm, start slowing down without warning, revs drop to 2200rpm and stay there, irrespective of where I...

    Potentially Expensive Issue....

Sounds perfectly reasonable - last minute repairs (especially when its me doing them) aren't a good idea.... I'll try and check the level and colour tomorrow (why the hell did LR delete the dipstick/filler on later models? NumbNuts!!)

    Auto Box On A P38

We seem to be having the same problem - see my thread for inspiration!! Expensive Problem!

    Potentially Expensive Issue....

Fair point Mr Fanatic Sir - its more if the injuries let me though! Still, I could just wait until I get the Compo (if I get any) for the accident and splash out on a new AutoBox - ooooh the anticipation!

    Potentially Expensive Issue....

Oh I have thought hard (I've had 3 months!) - got to do something, even if its just checking and topping up the fluid! I can't face a nearly 400 mile round trip with 4 of us, plus all the kids "kit" in an Audi A2!!

    Potentially Expensive Issue....

Well, in typical fashion, three months after the problem arose, I've still done sod all about it.... In my defence, I've had a fair few issues, partly stemming from sheer lack of time but also because some bellend in a van decided he didn't like the back of the Rangie whilst following me on...

    increased performance

35 on a run and 28 round town? Jesus! I'm lucky if I get 23 round town and 28 on a run! Still, didn't buy it for economy!

    Proposed Diagnostic Software Project (Poll)

I'm very interested in this - can't contribute from a Technical point of view (the only thing I know about C++ is how to spell it!!) but I'm happy to contribute towards software costs/licence fees etc.... might be able to locate a Server or two if you need something to write it on though!

    Potentially Expensive Issue....

OK, so its cold, snowy and I'm skint after Christmas and have the wife's 30th Birthday to pay out for next week, so the last thing I need at the moment is a major problem, or at least a potentially major problem with the Rangie..... There seems to be an issue with the Auto Box, in that the...

    Private Plate for Xmas

Its a 1998 2.5 V6 CDX with a full Irmscher body kit plus all the other Irmscher bits I could find and modify to fit... Really nice motor, had it a lot of years - even put a brand new engine in it from Vauxhall. Gonna be sad to see her go.

    Diagnostic kit

Thats the one I got with it - I'll give that one a go first - when I summon up the motivation to go out in the cold! :):)

    Diagnostic kit

Hmmm, might have to source a Toughbook myself methinks! I've recently bought an ELM 327 OBD2 jobbie for the Rangie (not that I've had a chance to test it yet) - I know it will only probably give me the engine codes though... Any idea of the best software to ensure I get the best out of the...

    Private Plate for Xmas

I've got R2 OBV on my now dead Omega (gotta get the flaming thing off the drive and to the scrappy) and am toying with putting it on the Rangie - but the DVLA want £185 to shift it - robbing wotsits.... And yes, illegally respaced characters makes it look like my name (and yes, before any...

    Pikeys

Definately wouldn't shoot at them - my mate gave a little Do-As-You-Likey a clip round the ear when he caught him trying to steal his RS500 Cossie - the scumbags' Dad turned up an hour later with a shotgun wanting to negotiate!
