    Engine noise - damper blanket?

I'd be concerned with something like that getting caught in the moving parts or as discomania says restricting the airflow around the engine. Besides it's a landrover, it's supposed to make a noise, put the radio on. I've taken the standard under bonnet blanket off mine and don't often...

Disproportionate increase to road tax on 4x4 vehicles.

Very well said slob, personally I couldn't agree more, burn some sheep I say. Not that I mean burn sheep literally before you all start getting exitable, but i'm sure we all remember it don't we. were just far too apathetic in this country. Jon.

    Daily Mail Mistake

That's the state of journalism these days i'm affraid, I did spot it at the time, but then thats all I expect from the daily mail. I was pictured in my local paper a while back, driving a flooded road, they called my Disco a Range Rover, ****s. Jon

    OS Maps

I prefer 1:50k for route planning, but 1:25k is better for actual driving or walking cos of the better detail. Best is to get both on Memory Map, then you can zoom in and out and print you own. Jon.

    Rear Lights

Ok then, heres the photo. Not too good i'm afraid, it's a bit difficult getting your phone in there. This is the passenger side one, the red wire is the one that i've soldered onto the lamp, it's spliced into the red and black wire (i think, better check the colours in haynes or rave)...

    Rear Lights

Thats right for a 98 Disco only the ones in the bumper, for some stupid reason they don't connect the ones on the body. I have wired mine back up so i've got 4 lights as per earlier Disco's. If you want look at the bulbs in the body lamps they are still the twin filament (stop/tail) type and...

    back door ladders

You need to drill the holes in the rear door, two behind the number plate and two in the top (inside, not the bit you see). I havn't sealed mine as the riv-nut things arn't going to allow much water past, but if your worried you could put a smear of silicone on them before crimping them in...

    front mudflap bracket fitting?????

Don't know about thr LR ones (they are probably riv-nut type things which can be a pain without the proper tool), just use nuts and bolts at least you can get them off again if you need to. Jon

    front mudflap bracket fitting?????

Would have thought that the holes are standard, might be worth lifting the corner of the carpet and see if holes are visible from inside (might have those round black stickers over them), you might not see or feel them from underneath as they will be covered with underseal. Jon.

    front mudflap bracket fitting?????

View from underneath, This is taken from the wheel side, as you should be able to see the point bit in the middle sits against the seam and the edge is up against the sill. Hope that shows it well enough. Jon.

    front mudflap bracket fitting?????

I took my brackets off a while ago when I replaced the rubber flaps with plastic ones and refitted them with stainless bolts. They just bolt through the floor, would have thought that the holes may be there already, mine used to have side steps and the flaps seemed to fit round them ok. If...

    back door ladders

Oh, fitting is easy (but I have got a proper riv-nut tool thing), and you need to trim the number plate slightly so it sits over the mountings. Jon.

    back door ladders

I fitted one cos I was going to mount my work lamp and a CB ariel on it. In the end I mounted the lamp on the rear quater panel and my stainless bracket looks so good that i'm gonna mount a CB ariel in the same way on the other side. Only use it's really been so far is for climbing on top of a...

Unfortunatly yes, the Severn is still high and some of the back roads in Tewkesbury are getting a bit wet now. The Avon has gone down alot today, which is a real shame cos I drove through Eckington yesterday and the road was under 2 feet of water :D, but its nearly all gone now :(. Jon.
