and despite it being an ancient thread (and not much use)...... I've had 45 on the speedo on my 6 pot in 3rd - going up a slip road, then 65 on the a38 in 4th - admittedly the rad blew 3 miles down the road, but they do go :D
IIRC they are geared for just over 16mph per 1000 revs in top - so...
wilkos and lidl (sometimes) do 20/50 mineral oil too - no point pouring expensive stuff in the top just to make smoke and lubricate the road.... :smokin:
technically sold - waiting to arrange collection, so we'll see!
it's worth £400 weighed in for scrap FFS! (maybe!) :D
I'm a bit gutted to be getting rid of the old shed tbh :(
decision is made :( I need a 'better' car for commuting, that the other half can drive as well... so the chicken shed is going to be back on fleabay
starting price is £900, I'm in Belper, Derbyshire if anyone wants to come and have a look - it's project money, but I do use it every day to...
milk bottle top is just about my level of bodgery :o love it -
of course, one other issue I realised I have is that my LPG system uses the coolant to heat the vapouriser thingy - so more pipes and more cooling
perhaps buying a better hat would be a lot easier! :(
I've got an electric rad fan, new water pump, decent rad, new pipework, thermostat is opening when it should be - rad is covered.... still takes 2 miles to warm up, so air flow is the issue - cold air on the windscreens is better than no air :D and my commute is only 5 miles, so I would only get...
it's a 109, hardtop - so the volume of space to heat is ridiculous, especially with the ventilation gaps around the door and sides :(
i'm really more concerned with efficient demisting than temperature, but any heat would be a bonus!
spose I could put some sort of bulkhead in to reduce the...
so... on my quest to make the heater actually work I came across this thread: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f6/best-place-find-heater-motor-166170.html
which seems like a good idea - less than 30 quid to get some decent airflow through the heater matrix

reversed the connections - less air in the shed, and just as much coming out of the intake! I'm beginning to think it's the fan design - sucks air in at the top of the intake and blows a bit out at the bottom
if anyone could have a check on theirs to see if it's the same that would be great ta...

it's a 75/6 - just had a look and it's a 2 pin unit, but there's an extra wire piggybacked onto one of the terminals.
nothing is ever easy! spose I'll have to work out what the extra wire is for before I do anything else now..... or order the 2 pin and wire it up the same :D
Hiya
was trying to sort my heater out yesterday, thought there might be a blockage in the air pipes and an easy fix, but no such luck (of course!)
what I did notice is that the fan seems to blowing the air out of the vent on the wing - which seems odd to me.... I'd of thought it would be...
it's definately bodged, modified and damaged! :D
noticed my light switch was getting hot last night after 90 minutes stuck in traffic cos of a little bit of snow  and there is a short in the stalk (I hope) between the headlight flash and OS indicator. I love old wiring.... not...
g'day!
anyone know what the flasher unit should be on s s3 109 2.6? the manual seems to say 2 pin, but there are 3 pin ones available too, can't get out to get a look as I'm at work!

Lancaster (after 25 minutes on the phone) - sorry sir we can't offer you insurance as your vehicle is modified.....
it's a bloody van, with LR sideways facing rear seats and side windows, had this fun last year too! I think I'm going to take the back seats out, they're a waste of space...
If I remember rightly I was being quoted around £400 last year for a non classic policy with business mileage - confused will give you the answers to that one tho!
it's that time again for me too, and swinton specialist insurance have just upped the quote by about £50 for this year :( I got stung for my 'custom' side windows and rear fold down seats last year cos I can't prove they are original - or even genuine LR  )
