    Defender 90 crossmember

Not sure if this'll be any help but I watched Clive from Blacksheep fit one to my Ninety yesterday. The basic steps were, 1. Jack up the back end and put it on Axle stands and remove rear wheels 2. Cut the wiring loom and pull it back into the chassis until the end just goes in, then pull...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Today I helped, supervised, OK, watched Pressbrake save my ninety by cutting an awful lot of rust off the back and welding on one of his HD crossmembers. I think he's out of saw blades, cutting discs and gas for the mig now. Cracking job though and well worth the hassle getting it there.

    Puddles

I did that once in my V8 Disco years ago. a few yards later she died as the electrics were swamped and I had to sit at the side of the road trying to dry her out :( That taught me.

Booked in for a crossmember from Pressbrake. I may actually get to drive her again soon. It's been a while.

What have you done to your Landie today.

I started out patching the hole in the footwell for the MOT. Painted part of the chassis I can't normally get at, removed the battery box for patching, ordered loads of nuts and bolts to replace the many I had to cut off and ordered new seat box side panels after seeing the damage from...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Cleaned up some rust on the battery box ready for painting, found holes. Guess I'm cutting tomorrow and welding then. I really should stop looking for the rust.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Started stripping bits to replace a footwell and found more rust. This led to more stripping and more rust :( The rusty footwell is starting to look like the best bit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

Replacement crossmember but already had one.

Thanks for the advice guys. I had a look at various crossmembers at Billing today and I reckon Pressbrakes look the best, at least they'll be easier to get the mud out of. Now I just need to persuade the guy that wants my old LT77 to take it in exchange for his welding skills :) Sent from...

    Hi from Norfolk

Hi all, Just realised that I've been lurking here for 4 years and never introduced myself. That was sort of OK while I was quiet in the background but seems a little rude now I've posted. I'm Kev, based in Norfolk and driven / owned a few Landies. 30 years ago I was bombing around in...

Fitted my 6th gearbox! This time it's a R380 Stumpy from Ashcroft so, hopefully, it'll last.

The extensions seem OK although I guess I'll only really know when I get to look inside :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2

Hi all I have a Holey rear crossmember on my 90, TD, but she's already had a replacement with extensions. Can I just cut the old crossmember off, clean up the existing extensions, and fit another or am I going to have to find another solution? Kev
