    A really annoying whine

Cheers - did yours have the same symptoms? Been out and about in it today, and it's doing my bonce in now!

    A really annoying whine

Yeah, I did wonder about that - but wouldn't that be a consistent noise rather than an intermittent whine?

    A really annoying whine

P38 - 2001 4.6L Vogue LPG Another one for you esteemed Rangie gurus. My lovely motor has recently developed a high-pitched whine, but it’s of an annoyingly intermittent nature. It appears to be coming from the OSF wheel, and it doesn’t occur until I’ve driven a few miles. Even then, it'll...

    Auto gear shift lever broken!

Thanks for that, Wammers. As it happens, it's just the plastic mechanism itself on the button - completely sheared off. When the gearstick was removed, the plastic bits fell out, and I was able to drive the car fine...which is just as well, as otherwise it would've been stuck in the...

    Auto gear shift lever broken!

Folks P38 - 2001 4.6 Vogue - LPG Got yet another problem. Parked up at the train station this morning, went to put the car into 'park' and the shift lever broke. Went as limp as the proverbial wet lettuce (the shift lever, not me). :( Is there any way I can select gears with a broken...

    Colour code

Nah, that's not mine. Mine is a very tired looking 2001 4.6 Vogue in Monte Carlo blue, with a cracked rear bumper and Comet wheels that are crying out for a refurb! I had the same SRS issue as yourself last year. Can highly recommend a local garage if you're interested? PM me for more info.

    Colour code

I know it goes against the grain, but have you tried calling your nearest LR stealership? They should be able to sort you out. BTW - where in South Wales are you located? Don't seem to be too many of us P38 owners in these parts (or not many who contribute on this fine site, anyway!).

    Alternator (don't even know 'er)...

What's involved with that? It might be something I'd like to attempt, even if it's just to keep the original as a spare. I'm hardly a whiz with electricals, but I'm always willing to give it a bash.

    Alternator (don't even know 'er)...

Thanks lads, all confirmed my suspicions - just goes to show that the 'reboot' option doesn't really work for Rangies. :p Looks like my current alternator is the original one fitted to my beast, so I can't really complain that it's popped it's clogs - it is (or was) over 13 years old. I've...

    Alternator (don't even know 'er)...

So, it goes like this. Driving home tonight, I couldn’t help but notice that the dashboard lights looked dimmer than usual. I immediately suspected the alternator, as I had a brand new battery fitted just before Christmas – which incidentally rectified a number of ongoing gripes I had, such as...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Erm, 'wash' might be too strong a term to describe what I do...chucking the occasional bucket of water at it doesn't really count (hardly a full valet!). Mind you, what really winds me up is dirty alloys - can't stand that - so maybe there is a touch of OCD in there somewhere! ;) Anyway, the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Woo-hoo - my beastie only went and flew through it's MOT! :D One advisory for a minor oil leak, but other than that, it's got a clean bill of health for another 12 months. Can't begin to tell you how chuffed I am right now - if it wasn't for the crappy weather, I'd treat it to a damned...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Finally managed to get the 'Airbag Fault' message sorted out - a combination of a faulty rotary coupler, an aged drivers airbag and some missing SRS warning bulbs in the dashboard. Who'd have thought it, eh? Booked in for it's MOT at 9am tomorrow morning. Wish me luck...:amen:

P38 Rear Speaker and Sub Problem

I had exactly the same symptoms that you mentioned earlier on in this thread - after a particularly heavy couple of days of rain, the sound from my speakers was like white noise. It lasted for about 3 or 4 days, but then - thankfully - it resolved itself. I'd almost resigned myself to having to...

    P38 head unit thoughts

Before you go down the route of buying one from the 'well known auction site', PM me - I've got a spare Alpine head unit that's looking for a good home!

    What diagnostic

Funny that, I've got the same issue with the Nanocom Evo. Mine only arrived last weekend so I haven't really had much time to play with it yet, but what I have found is that it's a bit erratic when it comes to talking to the ECU - some of the options work fine, some will occasionally lose the...

Alpine head unit(s), but no sound...HELP!

The amp cost me £100. Just got lucky I guess, although I've been checking availability on FleaBay and other sites over the past couple of weeks. The XQK100340 seems to be available from various sites, but they're looking to charge upwards of £500 - there's no way I can't justify spending that...

Alpine head unit(s), but no sound...HELP!

Latest update… …resorted to FleaBay to pick up a replacement XQK100210 amp (wanted the XQK100340, but as I’ve seen so many times on this forum, they’re rarer than a Chelsea fan who likes Rafa Benitez). Anyway, connected up the amp, and wahey - my Rangey started to sing to me! Very...

Alpine head unit(s), but no sound...HELP!

Latest news...took the rear panel off to get at the amp, expecting to find a sodden mess of electronic gadgetry, and found the subwoofer, the CD changer...but no bloody amp! There's a chunky connector that's just dangling by itself, which, I'm assuming, would be a lot more useful if it was...

Alpine head unit(s), but no sound...HELP!

Right then, looks like my first job of the weekend is to get the subwoofer out to check the amp, and maybe take one of the doorcards off to check for the existence of a door amp! Shall update the thread when I've got some more info. The truck does indeed have the HK sound system. Thought this...
