    dt and dse

Cloth trim usually means DT. Nothing wrong with that, i actually prefer the feel of cloth in the cold winter months, maybe because a have a DT... ;)

    transfer case ECU swap

I was told that the t/box ECU should be for the same type of the gearbox (manual/auto) and the same type of the engine (diesel/petrol) as your car. Other than that, any should work really. Bear in mind what Druim says, if the ECU is burned out, there is usually a reason for that, and it often...

Clutch soft after me being an idiot

I know it is 3 months later but a follow-up is necessary. The bleeding helped for about two months, then two weeks ago things started to get fishy once again. The clutch pedal would get limp over the night at first. I could revive it by pumping in few dozen times. Today i finally took the slave...

    Ceramic Brake Pads

P38 warps disks pretty easily, at least in my experience. I'm sure that stuck sliding pins on calipers helped that, but it still happened twice in a year :)

need headlamps to matriculate my p38

I'd try in Italy. I know for sure that there were a lot of P38a's around, which are now starting to break down completely. It'll be more expensive than UK, but still cheaper than main stealer.

HI and LOW Range shift motor ???

Micky, you can open the ECU easily, it's been done numerous times. You can even smell it before opening, if it smells of burned electronics, you can bet that there is something fishy going on in there :) Another ECU will fit, but will have to be for the same engine (petrol or diesel) and...

HI and LOW Range shift motor ???

if the motor functions normally when mounted on the t/box and changes gear with you switching the current directly i'd suspect the ECU is f*cked. The only other option would be that the sensors circuit in the motor itself (the other three wires on the connector) are gone bad. There were some...

    Stuck in low range

Do check the motor :) the stator part of the motor is known to chip. Just clean out the chipped parts, brush it a bit so you remove all the residual parts and reassemble. Mine works like that for a year now, without any problems.

    Electrical question

Check RAVE accessory fitting guide, I'm sure i saw the directions for 2nd cigarette lighter type plug fitting into the sub-woofer housing.

    Stuck in low range

You can test the motor with just a battery, the two big contacts on the t/motor connector are the positive and negative pole, reversing them just reverses the motor direction. Mind you, that the motor is limited in it's travel, IIRC about two seconds from one side stop to the other. If you...

    Suspension..........

Yes, you can run it like that for some time. I did for almost a year, but be mindful of the compressor running for a long time (more than 10min), as the motor can melt, if your airlines and bladders aren't up to scratch. Cheers, Crt

    P38 air suspension problem

That's all normal, except for car being on bumpstops in the morning. The fact that you have to leave the door open in the morning to fill up the tank makes me wonder, the car shouldn't use all the air in the tank just to level out during the night. A dodgy solenoid or maybe a faulty air...

    Suspension..........

You can get it here or search eBay for yourself ;) The swap is simple, if you don't mind using soldering iron. Good luck :)

    yet another crock of sh1te

I really like his silver painted tow ball... I have to decontaminate the PC now! :smash:

    Suspension..........

Just to calm you down a bit, the ABS light stays on after every start of the car until you reach certain speed, IIRC around 10 mph. If the compressor works when jumping the relay and nothing happens when you swap the relay with a good one, i'd suspect the thermal switch inside the pump is...

EAS pressure won't rise over 105 psi

TCubed: i've thought about it, but decided to just keep the second compressor as a ready spare. It wouldn't help rising the car to the highest setting any faster, as the air gets into airbags from the air tank, not the pump itself.
  17. C

    Suspension..........

Do you have any of the doors or the tailgate open, as this inhibits the suspension height change... Lowering to the bumpstops happens because the car tries to adjust/level it's height by lowering to the lowest corner's height every few (6, IIRC) hours. Do you hear/feel the compressor running...

    High beam stalk operation

Great idea. I'll try that, there's plenty of resistors at my office... :)

    High beam stalk operation

Alan, i am going to glue the bugger, when i find time. I think the bit should glue just fine, but you'd have to degrease it first, then apply glue on the insides of the crack and somehow press it together. It's just all a bit fiddly and small for my fingers :)

P38 retro fit traction control ?

The central diff lock is an integral part of the transfer box, which is the same for both auto and manual gearbox equipped cars. The transfer box has a double role. First one is changing between high and low gear, and the second is acting as a central differential. The viscous coupling is then...
