    TD4 EML and non starter

If you only turn the ignition on without starting and the light comes on, I would imagine the most likely thing is fuel pressure, unless its drastically lost a sensor connection.. hopefully your code reader will tell you..

Has head gasket gone??? Help please

If the head gasket is blown between the coolant passages and a cylinder it could pressurise the coolant, but I would imagine you would have plumes of white smoke out the back, with a horrible antifreeze smell, especially at 70. Could be as already said the system has been refilled and not bled...

    Boost & oil pressure gauges

EGR would probably be a good place, or the aluminium section that houses the intake air temp sensor, most places after the turbo should give you a reasonably good reading... I've always fitted the oil pressure sensor with a Tee where the oil pressure switch is fitted..

    TD4 EML and non starter

Just out of interest guys, would this cause the engine management light to come back on before trying to start... reason for asking is this is what mine done when the LP fuel pump packed up - switch on ignition, first management light goes out and comes back on due to no fuel pressure feeding...

    TD4 Fuel Pump Problem??

Defo the same here, when running it would keep running, a good clout in that area would kick it into going if it wouldn't start. You'll be getting the orange management light coming back on too because of low or no fuel pressure. New pump and filter fairly easy to change

    Heated Wing Mirrors???

Use some rag around the edges and be gently but firm if that makes any sense. My drivers side packed up a couple of years ago and turned out to be the connections on the back.. If its really cold outside, very gently warm the glass with a hairdryer, it'll make it less brittle..hope this helps.

    Heated windscreen fault

The two wires you see on each end are indeed the supplies for the windscreen. With them disconnected, check the resistance of the screen on both sides and compare, they should be roughly the same. My heated screen hasn't worked for a couple of years now, I think I have a connection problem on...

    temperature gauge ??

Does the gauge seem to flick quickly, if so it may well be a connection problem somewhere. If it drops as you drive along, and rises again when stopped or slow its probably the thermostat stuck open slightly.

    more noisy after refitting VCU

I found finding decent bearings a bit of a job, when I replaced my VCU I foolishly bought a pair from a certain BRITish PART supplier, bearings made more noise than a jumbo when doing 40mph, replaced them only to find the rubber was too hard and caused vibration at 50 - 60mph. Binned. Bit the...

    Fbh heater td4

From memory there are two pins that will start the FBH, and the Hippo only uses one of them via a temperature switch behind the grille. There is also an output from the heater to confirm it is running, use this to turn your fan inside on, via a relay of coarse... Check this out How to - Part 1...

Grey smoke and lumpy warm starts... again

Cheers guys, I do use Total in the local Rainbow, or Jet from the Ford garage.. not sure what either of those two are like. The MAF is nearly two years old, and is the Pierburg unit and Synergy tuning box from Ron at tuning diesels, I don't think there was too much wrong with the...

Grey smoke and lumpy warm starts... again

There seems to be quite a lot of speak about this problem, of shaky warm starts.. We've had our 2004 Freelander TD4 now for 5 yrs and so far has been as good as gold, but its started this lumpy start with grey /white smoke when starting from warm. First thing on a cold morning with the glow...
