    if the by-pass hose and expansion hose were connected to the wrong inlet pipe on the topside of the thermostat could this cause overheating? or does it not matter which way around they are connected ?

    fraid not - if its not circulating and is down to radiator , best thing can do is to remove and flush with some central heating chemicals

    viscous fan is new, would suck a bag through the grill if i would let it. Agree - circulation prob i think due to thermostat - is there anyway it could he HG or block prob ?
