Question - not for the feint-hearted

when it overheats the radiator all over is cold apart from the very top. the radiator has been replaced - when there is no thermostat the radiator gets hot ( i mean hot, hot) all over indicating no blockage (i understand what you saying about alluminium

Question - not for the feint-hearted

Frustrating in an under statement - i am thinking along the same lines - cracked block as it has never overheated whilst on tickover with stat in - it is only under load i get the problem. i dont think the thermosat is opening -its cold underneath whilst being hot on top.

Question - not for the feint-hearted

if i am getting good flow across that wax element why then is the thermostat not opening in situ - it opened fine when tested in the kitchen? yes - looking down onto the thermostat both small pipes are pointing to the outside of the car. the bypass is connected to the more vertical sprout and...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

checked this last weekend - def correct trace them back. They are different sizes so pretty dif to get them wrong way round. Just had a thought - if i restrict the by pass hose slightly then in theory i should get more flow across wax element in thermostat from the heater matrix - this may...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

apart from the fact that i have changed the pump twice i can confirm that when i take off the heater matrix inlet hose and turn engine over ( take fuse out to stop her firing) - she pumps into a bag what look like to be very well - for some reason the temperature (albeit very very hot) of the...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

If i fill up the expansion vessel to the neck and turn engine on, after approx 7 minutes the water level rises and over flows - I thought the same about the 2 smaller hoses on the top of the thermostat but they are different sizes and you struggle to get them the wrong way around - checked...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

"Just above the blue" was only when i had a wedged open thermostat - i would have expected this reading - what this confirmed was that i had circulation throughout with no blockages. If the pressure was rising surely this would mean that pump was circulating coolant, if this was the case why...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

correct - how do you do a flow test ?

Question - not for the feint-hearted

The coolant i believe is boiling but if this is the case why does the boiling coolant not open the thermostat - hot coolant is passing through the heater matrix therefore being pumped confirmed by getting hot air in cabin and down from the top hose via the by pass hose - either should open the stat?

Question - not for the feint-hearted

New viscous fan - air movement increases with engine revs. New thermostat is OEM - i made sure i paid more for it that i would have normally of done Temperature gauge sits just above the blue marks on the temp gauge
