Have I made a costly mistake?

Question, gear box oil, the texaco stuff recommended in the Haynes book of lies only comes in a 20 litre drum as far as I can see. Anyone recommended something a bit more realistic

Have I made a costly mistake?

Just been down to LLR in Chalton to have a nose. Was chatting to one of the older fellas on the desk, said he's been working with river engine for years. He said if you remove the ball bearing from the end of the little pipe that leads into the inlet manifold it makes a huge difference and a he...

Have I made a costly mistake?

Well took it for a test drive, all went well, system heated up nice and didn't overheat. Pressurised nicely. Ran much better than before. Sounded smoother and a lot quieter. But then again the amount of work I've done and the amount of new parts I would bloody well hope so! Next job is to change...

Have I made a costly mistake?

Help help, I've forgotten which way the thermostat goes in. Need to get his fitted. Remember it's the standard one. Does the spring end go in to block side or the pipe side?

Have I made a costly mistake?

Not brittpart, said on the box oem or higher. Bought at europarts but I've chucked the box. I've tested it again and this time it opened just took longer than I would like. Gonna get a new one anyway

Have I made a costly mistake?

My wife went to hull to study psychology. Wish she hadn't as she try's to analyse me all the time! I know I have no soul. Don't need reminding. She's obsessed with some nasty **** called chip spice. Should of got your son to buy a load of parts to bring home with him. Anyway further problem...

Have I made a costly mistake?

Oh yeah that will go down well. On question, I left it ticking over for 10 mins and the coolant pipe along the front got hot but the coolant in the res was still cold. I put fans on and the heating worked fine and I could see coolant moving in. I remember reading it takes a while for them to...

Have I made a costly mistake?

The parts aren't that expensive. You can have my old water pump if you want, I dunno if it's working or not, just decided to hedge my bets and replace it

Have I made a costly mistake?

Right well the work is done. The car is back together minus the undertray, which I will put on after a test drive later. Fingercrossed. I started it up, no issues. Started on the turn which is better than before. No bangs or crashes so I'm assuming all is well with the timing and cambelt. So so...

Have I made a costly mistake?

Not yet, one step at a time, I've hardly had a chance to drive it since I've got it. Next month will be the time for upgrades

Have I made a costly mistake?

Well after many cut knuckles and plenty of swearing it's on and sorted. Why land rover decided to make the water pump such a pig to get off I'll never know. Bloody socket was too short without an extender but the extender I had was too long. I ended up just turning the cam pulley like the above...

Have I made a costly mistake?

It's the key you push between the teeth to stop them moving. Why would the spring outwards?

Have I made a costly mistake?

I have an official rover k series cam key so I'm all good

Have I made a costly mistake?

I have new belt to fit as I wanted to do the water pump. Less stressed now.

Have I made a costly mistake?

Just so I'm getting this correct. If I get the crank pulley bolt out and then remove the cam belt as usual, can I adjust the sprocket position by turning them individually with out the belt, and then refit?

Have I made a costly mistake?

Best way to describe it is the crank marker is on it mark an then the rear cam sprocket is 1or two teeth further clockwise than they should be and the front crank shaft sprocket is a further 1 tooth clockwise to that one. I'm getting stressed as the light is going so I'm gonna have to brood on...
